King Middle School

A Note from Mr. Wright

Dear King Families,

Week #6 has concluded which means the end of our first grading period and progress reports will be coming home soon within the next week or so. These are only progress reports so nothing is permanent but they are very important pieces of information to show student progress to this point so far. Our semester does not end until December so students still have 12 more weeks to make adjustments so they can get the grades that they want. Honor roll is determined based on semester grades and not progress reports. We want all of our Lions to earn at least a 3.0 or higher in order to be eligible for the honor roll.

Reminder that October 3rd is a non-school day for students. Staff will be engaged in professional development. This will be the last professional development day for the first semester.

Last call for those who are interested in being part of the school site council as voting ends this weekend. Please fill out the interest form so we can include you on the ballot that will be shared next week for voting. We are still in the need of 3 students to join SSC. Please encourage your scholar to join if they are interested as this is something they can add to their resume for college applications when they get to high school. The link to the interest from can be found here: SSC Interest Form

This Tuesday will be our parent meeting hosted by Jon Moffat which focuses on the theme of responsible digital citizenship. Mr. Moffat presented to our students this week and we would love as many parents as possible to join this free workshop hosted on zoom in both English and Spanish at 5pm. Viernes 9-23

¡Vamos Leones!

Helpful Information - Early pick up from school

Parents, while we hope that your student is with us all day, every day; we know that sometimes appointments just can't be scheduled outside the school day.

If you do need to collect your child early from school, please be aware that it is very difficult to collect students during lunch. If you can avoid pick up during lunches that consideration would be greatly appreciated.

If you do arrive during lunch and can arrange for your child to be in an exact location when you do arrive, we can call for your student in that specific area. (Example - "in the covered eating area, or on the blacktop".)

Lunches are at the following times:

Monday 6/7th grade 11:01 - 11:36; 8th grade 11:44 - 12:19

Tuesday - Friday 6/7th grade 11:37 - 12:12; 8th grade 12:28 - 1:03

Expedite your time in the office

If you have items your student has forgotten at home, lunches, attendance questions, or medical information or items, you do not need to go into the main office. After checking in at the Kiosk, you can proceed directly to the Attendance Window on the south end of the Administration building.

For general requests, information about activities, registration paperwork, to leave a message for a teacher or staff member or use the computer, check in at the Kiosk and proceed directly to the Main Office through the door at the north end of the building.

Book Request from PTSO

The PTSO is looking for donations of gently used, age appropriate books for their Annual 6th Grade Book Donation Drive.

Your donated books will help encourage the 6th, soon to be 7th graders, to read over the summer break.

There is a box for book donations in the school office. Thank you for your support!
