Since Lincoln was from the north everyone thought he was against slavery. He thought slavery was wrong, and in his acceptance speech he brought up how slavery was wrong and how to stop it.

I think that slavery would still be present after the election if Lincoln wasn't elected as president. Eventually, slavery would be abolished even if Lincoln wasn't elected. He just helped the process of abolishing slavery go faster.
