St. Mary's School

PARENT/GUARDIAN COMMUNICATION - Health and Safety 3.13.2020

St. Mary's School Will Be Closed for Two Weeks Beginning at the Close of the After School Program Today, March 13 through March 27.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Based on the evolving conditions associated with the Covid-19 outbreak occurring throughout the state and in Middlesex County, St. Mary's School, in consultation with the City of Melrose and the Melrose Public Schools, has made the decision to implement an extended closure effective at the close of the After School Program on Friday, March 13. As the situation remains fluid, we anticipate remaining closed for approximately two weeks, however, this may change based on direction from state and local health officials.

Yesterday, the faculty met to finalize a continuity plan for remote learning, and the plan will be activated beginning Monday, March 16. You will receive a separate communication this weekend with more details regarding this plan.

For our grade 2 families, Father Shawn asked me to inform you that the Sacrament of First Reconciliation scheduled for Saturday, March 14 will run as planned. This decision was made based on guidelines provided by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston with regard to continuation of Mass and all Sacraments. Father Shawn also asked me to share that if a family does not feel comfortable attending on Saturday, he will make arrangements for private or smaller groups to receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation in April.

We thank you in advance for your flexibility, support and understanding as we work to best address the needs of our community during this difficult time.

Mr. Christopher Beza
