Curriculum & Instruction
October 2023 Board Report
Curriculum Development & Textbook Adoption
I have worked to develop a 6-year rotation schedule for the review and replacement of textbooks and other curriculum materials. This will allow for long-range, comprehensive planning and will ensure fiscally responsible curriculum budgeting practices.
Here is a presentation for your information: FASD Curriculum Development Process. This slideshow describes the five stages of a curriculum cycle. The final slide contains the timeline and schedule for the review and adoption of new textbooks and related curriculum materials.
Title I @ FASD Trunk & Treat
Title I staff will be participating in the FAEA Trunk & Treat on Saturday, October 28th. We will be passing out free books to all elementary students in attendance as part of our parent and family engagement activities. Our theme is "Read S'more."
Acadience Testing K-2
Acadience (DIBELS) beginning of year reading assessments have been administered to all K-2 students across the district. Students who are below benchmark will receive appropriate instructional intervention and/or Title I services and progress monitoring. The assessment will be given again in January to measure students' progress towards specific learning targets and to identify students who may need additional instruction and support.
