1964 civil rights act
JFK gave a televised speech about the importance of civil right to all Americans on June 11,1963. He created a law or act to protect African Americans from being outlawed discrimination and segregation. The bill was passed in both house of representatives and the senate and signed by Lyndon b. Johnson.
1960 albany movement
sncc,NAACP, and Dr. king helped to organize the movement to end segregation in the south of Georgia.
1963 march on washington
one hundred years later after Abe Lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation, over 250,000 citizen marched to the Lincoln memorial in order to gain jobs and freedom for African Americans.
1961 uga desegregation
the first two African Americans to enter in an all white school was Hamilton Holmes and charlayne hunter.
1960 student non-violent coordinating commitee
throughout the south, blacks and white students were inspired by martin Luther king jr.'s methods of non-violence in order to to challenge unfair segregation. the young students started to boycott.

some Georgia schools are threatened to close down because of desegregation.
