agreements between israel and egypt signed on September 17, 1978. that led to a peace treaty between those two countries. the agreements became known as the Camp David Accords because the negotiations took place at the us presidential retreat at camp david.

By 1978 the modern Israeli state had been in existence for

30 years years marked by armed conflict and regional war.

Following Egyptian President Sadats unprecedented trip to

address the Israeli Knesset, President Carter invited the two

parties to meet at Camp David, Maryland to discuss peaceful

options that might end the conflict between the two nations.

The negotiations were fraught with drama, but the end result

was a promising chance for compromise and peace.
