James Watt
The Steam Engine
The Beginning
Born on January 19, 1736, James Watt would change the way of transportation. A mechanical engineer, Scottish inventor, and chemist, he studies the steam engine. He wanted to improve the Newcomen steam engine which eventually he will do.
What Did He Do?
When Watt was studying the Newcomen steam engine, he realized that it wasted a great deal of energy reheating and cooling the cylinder repeatedly. Watt designed a new engine which didn't waste so much energy. This changed everything. People had a new way of getting around and could transport big loads of things now.
