The Patriot Way
August 14, 2022 Vol. 2
First Week Wrapped Up!
We had a successful first three days of the 2022-23 school year! Teachers and staff were on point and excited to get students in the hallways and classrooms. There was a positive vibe around the building. With much uncertainty over the last few years, a positive and calm start to the year is what we all needed. Check out some first week photos below!
We have a full, regular scheduled week coming up. Remember that Mondays are an alternate schedule as our staff will be having professional development. This means students will need to report to the following areas:
All Junior High students will report to the PAC
Grades 9-12 will report to either the Commons, the Cafeteria, or the Library
Week 1 Excitement
A Peek into the Classrooms
Mrs. Grimmett's Algebra I
Math is more than crunching numbers and "getting" answers. Discovering answering, developing reasonable though processes, logical thinking, and communication are vital for all math students. Great job pushing our students to be better thinkers and problems solvers in a creative, fun way!
Thank you, Mrs. Grimmett!

This Week in Athletics
August 19th- 8am Seeger FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) will sponsor a time of prayer by the HS office flagpole. All students, faculty, & staff are invited to meet for a brief prayer meeting.
High School Athletics:
The athletic calendar was in full swing this past week. Girls golf traveled to Parke Heritage and Western Boone, volleyball had their scrimmage at Frankfort, and football scrimmaged Delphi Friday at SHS. Our Cross-country, boys' tennis, and junior high teams continued practice to prepare for the upcoming events!
Boys tennis opens up the week with a match at Greencastle. Coach Orahood has been pushing the boys hard to compete and win the Patriot way. Good luck boys and bring home a W.
Ladies Golf Bi-County is Tuesday August 16 at Harrison Hills. Golf team is 6-0 in the conference and 7-1 overall. Come out and support the Ladies as they work to complete a very successful season with only a few matches left to go!
Volleyball kicks off the season at Tri-County on Tuesday August 16th. Support the ladies as they look to start 1-0 on the season! Go get 'em, Pats!
XC is back to the grind twice this week--Thursday and Saturday. Runners have been training hard. Please come and support them this week. Run FAST!
Football opens up with Central Catholic at home Friday. Let's pack the stands and bring the noise for the boys. COLOR THE STANDS IN RED AND NAVY!
Junior High Athletics:
If any Junior High student is interested in running Cross Country, please contact Coach Stucky at mstucky@msdwarco.k12.in.us
Making an "INpact"with Band
Mrs. Haley said, "I have never been, and being here has been such a wonderful experience for everyone! The kids have made new friends from around Indiana, and Mr. Mori and I have gotten to work with some awesome saxophone players from around the state as well. Overall, there are 500 kids in the INpact band."
Students also got to perform at Lucas Oil which is incredible.
Be sure to catch the Band and Color Guard performing at the home football game Friday August 19th!
Great job Mrs. Haley and Mr. Mori! Continue doing great things this year.
Fall Play Auditions Are THIS WEEK!
Message from Mrs. Smiley:
Seeger Students will have the opportunity to participate in a 2 week exchange this school year with our partner school in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Seeger High School will have 17 Germans coming to Warren County on October 10th and staying for around 8 days. We are looking for host families who have a Seeger student. You take care of the German while they are here as though they are a member of your family, and provide a bed for them. They will attend school and we will have numerous group activities and excursions planned. You will make a new friend for life and have a connection in Germany! They are most excited about experiencing everyday
American teenager life. The only cost involved is feeding your German when they are in your home or with your family. They will have their own spending money.
Mrs. Smiley will also be taking students to Germany for the two weeks of Spring Break 2023. We will stay in the homes of the Germans who visit Warren County this October. We will attend their school, visit castles, live every-day German life, and do some travelling before heading home. Cost is still being determined for this trip, but may be around $2000 for two weeks in Germany- which is a great deal!
Contact Mrs. Laura Smiley with any questions or interest. LSMILEY@msdwarco.k12.in.us
Lunch Price and Procedures Update
"Schools had some flexibilities during COVID so they could serve all kids free meals. Some of those options expired, so many schools can’t serve all meals free anymore. Instead, families will do what they did before COVID. Schools will take applications and use family income to qualify kids for free, reduce-price, or paid meals."
