Snocoming Royalty
It was a snocoming crowning like no other and it showcased so many of our amazing students! This year, Student Council focused Snocoming on school spirit and put the spotlight on our Level 2 and ASD classes who add so much to OHS. They bring extra smiles to all students here at the high school and that spirit spread across the gym as each one was crowned at center court. They were escorted by their LINKS, OHS students who join them in the classroom, on field trips and at special events. These students walked out to roaring cheers and a standing ovation at the end. See more pictures on our Facebook page.
Lexus Eco Challenge Projects
The OMS STREAM students have developed alternative energy ideas for either Plainwell or Otsego to consider as money and energy-saving initiatives. They presented those ideas to the City Managers of the two cities this week. Both city officials asked great questions for the students to consider and research before submitting their projects to the Lexus Eco Challenge.
"Souper" Bowl Time!
Alamo students are competing to get to their own Souper Bowl by donating non perishable items. This is the 2nd year students have participated in this food drive with a twist! Each week, the classes with the most donations move onto the next round finally ending with one classroom winner. Of course, in the end, Christian Neighbors and the families they serve are the real winners. Look how packed this table is after just one week! Their goal is to collect more than 1,000 cans.

Exploring the Arctic
Preschoolers took part in so many hands on activities this week as they studied the Arctic! They were learning all about the native animals, listened to stories about glaciers, ice and snow, practiced their writing and math and even got to get messy! Learning is fun!
Snowstorm!
The kids experienced heavy snowstorms using shaving cream. This was their writing table where they practiced their names and words.
Counting snowballs
At the math station, students worked on their math and fine motor skills by grabbing and counting snowballs (marshmallows) for their penguin.
Making the Arctic Ocean
Students made the Arctic Ocean with ice cubes and water then saved animals that do not belong in the Arctic and allowed the ones that did to remain on the glacier.
Sorting arctic animals
Students sorted animals then named them.
Polar bear trace
Students worked on counting from 1-10 in this polar bear trace activity.
Writing practice
Kids got messy writing their names and words in shaving cream.
Tots 'n Tunes
It was a packed house for Tots 'n Tunes out at the Early Childhood Education Center this week. Students from the preschool and outside families came in with their kids to enjoy activities, get moving to songs and storytime! Each child goes home with a new book!
Hall of Fame Inductee
Congratulations to Steve Long who was inducted into the Coldwater High School Hall of Fame Friday night! Steve is a valuable leader to our students and athletes and we're thrilled for him to receive this honor on his accomplishments. He was an all-state runner in cross country and helped lead his team to regional championships and state appearances. Along with his high school accomplishments, the ceremony last night included his accomplishments here at Otsego as a 20-year coach for Cross Country.
