Women's Fashion in the 1920's
In the 1920’s, women’s fashion affected society after WW1.
After World War One...
Women started wearing clothes such as short skirts, the rejection of the corset, and bobbed or shingled hair with a "disregarding rules" act. Women's fashion started in Paris, though the design and manufacture of fashionable clothes to a client's specific requirements and measurements were most often adapted for the American market. Hats were a very popular accessory for the daytime. Bobbed hair, cut a bit shorter than shoulder length and often given a wave to it, horizontal waves, was the standard in fashion.
Female Trendsetters in the 1920's:
Clara Bow
Here's the original IT actress Clara, modelling an ideal 1920's ensemble.
Colleen Moore
Silent film actress Colleen basically invented the bob. Women around the world copied the black block cut.
Louise Brooks
Louise tried and tested all the trends the decade had to offer. She popularised the bob, got women to see how fab trousers can be.
