October 2018
Around the library...
So many exciting things happened this month! Students in grade 1-4 contributed to our 4th annual Storybook Pumpkin Patch, for which they decorated a pumpkin to look like one of their favorite book characters. In kindergarten, we choose books for the very first time with the help of our 4th grade pals, learned how to find our favorite books and practiced our sequencing skills with a fall favorite, Room on the Broom. First graders have been learning how to identify the parts of a book and how to retell a story in order. Second grade has been talking about how to choose books that are just right for us and how to keep our brains turned on while we read. Third and fourth graders were introduced to an awesome new tool called Biblionasium to help them track all of the reading they are doing this year. We also dug into characters with books like The Widow's Broom, The Uncorker of Ocean Bottles and Clever Jack Takes the Cake. We also began not one, but TWO 4th grade book clubs. We are reading, we are learning and we are having lots of fun. Can't wait to see what November holds!
