Eagles always SOAR!
We are so thankful for the support from our fellow Episcopal schools, churches, and many individuals who provided financial support, prayers, cards, and phone calls during these trying times.
South Campus Opens for First Ninth Grade Class
How Does Our Garden Grow?
Students on our North Campus enjoyed our garden days. They cleaned out the raised beds, trimmed Bitterpanticum, planted various seeds, and learned all about the process along the way.
Our ninth grade students planted long leaf pine seeds on the South Campus. We have been a partner with LSU reforestation since 2009.
Now we wait for nature to do her magic!
eSports Kick Off
Ethan has already learned so much since his first competition in the tournament. He picked up his first win this week in NBA 2K21!
We look forward to seeing this area of our athletic program continues to grow.
Cross Country
We are excited to announce that our Upper School has formed a cross country team. Blake, one of our 9th grade students, was our first member and attended two ACEL meets. He participated in the JV two mile. He showed great improvement from his first time of 18:16, to running a 16:34 in the ACEL State Meet. Since Blake's involvement, he has gained a couple of classmates who will continue training with him as they look forward to track season.
Moving forward into next year, we hope to see some of our middle school students join the cross country team.
Superheros, Unicorns, and Princesses, Oh My!
Louisiana History Project Impresses Mayor Nic Hunter
To start the year in Louisiana History our 8th graders participated in a Lake Charles History unit. In combining economics, culture, and service, students were tasked to create a business that could be non-profit or for profit. The business could aid in the rebuilding process of the city post hurricanes, or could be a business that the students feel is missing in Lake Charles.
Students had to pitch their ideas to three judges on the first day of judging (Mike Lafosse, Eric Zarter, and Kaitlyn Gallegos). The top three groups were then selected to pitch their business idea to Mayor Hunter.
Lake Charles Restoration (LCR) was the top pick for this project. Rachael, Abby, Lily, Katie, and Jolie worked hard on their project and the Mayor was very impressed with their thoroughness. Way to go girls!
"Due to the recent hurricanes, and stress over how to gain access to reputable contractors, roofers, etc., we’ve come up with the answer to these problems. We bring together local small businesses to make everything more accessible. From hurricane relief to interior design, we make it easy to find the service for you! Through our website, you can find the right service fit for your project and budget. Natural disasters and basic home projects are already overwhelming, we are trying to lighten your load and your budget."
Great Speakers Visit the South Campus
Dr. Merchant, Dr. Sarah Baker, and friends 🐍 visited the South Campus from McNeese State University for an informative presentation on everything SNAKES. They explained their importance in nature, what to do if we come across a snake, how to identify a venomous snake, and so much more.
In Honor of Veterans Day, Dr. Rob Kacprowicz, Dr. Jay Marque, Mr. Courtney Fenet, Mr. Sean Smith, Mr. Curtis McBroom, Officer Justin Gary, and Mr. Michael Orgeron spoke to our middle and upper school students about their military experiences.
