On May 2, 2023, the West Bloomfield School District will have a bond initiative on the ballot:
- $148 million 3-series bond proposal
- Estimated ZERO net increase over 2022 debt millage rate
- Used for high-priority capital improvements - 2 new elementary buildings, STEAM/CTE space, multi-activity spaces, technology upgrades, and dedicated early childhood spaces
- Establishes a 10-year facility improvement plan

The goal of the Student Leadership class is to develop your leadership skills and to provide you with opportunities that put your skills to use in order to impact your school and community positively while planning events.
WBMS Brings Home 7 Medals in Wrestling Championship Tournament
West Bloomfield Brings Home 7 Medals From The Oakland County Middle School Wrestling Championship Tournament
The Lakers took 16 wrestlers to compete in the Oakland County Middle School Wrestling Championship Tournament and was able to finish 7th overall out of 23 teams! At the end of the day the Lakers would bring home an impressive 7 medals. A big congratulations to Bryan Valentin who pinned his way through the tournament to become the first Oakland County Champion in West Bloomfield Middle School History!!

Congratulations to three WBMS students! They entered a writing contest for the Optimist Club of Keego Harbor with the theme of "Who is an everyday hero that brings out the Optimism in you?"

WBMS Wrestling Avenges Loss Against Bloomfield Hills Middle School 78-72
The Lakers traveled to Bloomfield Hills Middle School today for their second meeting of the season. Last time they met Bloomfield Hills Middle School inched out a victory with a final score of 66-65. However the Lakers showed how much they have improved in the past month, winning with a final score of 78-72. Leading the Lakers with two wins on the day were Nathan Coleman, Christian Ausi and Joshua Gonzales!

2. have the agenda signed by the teacher with date and time (parents and teachers can easily see when and how often a student is leaving class)
Lanyards are 2$ in the office (we have given students 1-2 lanyards)
IDs are available in the office for $5 (we have given every student 2 at no cost)
Backpacks are not permitted to be carried unless the locker is broken or there are extenuating circumstances. Broken lockers should be reported to Mrs. Paige in the main office: jazmine.paige@wbsd.org
ONLY students with an assigned GYM class should be using a GYM locker. We will be cleaning out all other materials and placing it in lost and found
Lakers of the Week
Christian Rensburg, nominated by Mrs. Belli - Christian is doing an amazing job in science class this year. He works so hard every day. If he does not finish an assignment he willingly takes his work home to finish. I am so proud of him every day. Keep up the hard work Christian!
Eugene North, nominated by Mrs. Kreger - I have Eugene in Advisory and in Social Studies. In Advisory, Eugene comes in and gets right on task. He uses his time well and he is also helpful. Eugene helps without even being asked which is so nice to see. In Social Studies, Eugene works hard and he is very respectful. I'm really glad I have Eugene in my classes this year!

Hot Works 20th Orchard Lake Fine Art Show is July 29 - 30, 2023. A unique and one-of-a-kind program invites young artists, ages 5-13 or grades K-8 to participate.
$250 awards include one $100 Best of Youth Art and three $50 Youth Art Awards of Excellence.

Girls Robotics Event
Do you have a female student that wants to learn more about our middle school robotics program, and participate in a super fun off-season competition?
Our MS robotics group will once again be attending an all-girls off-season event this year. The event is on May 6th in Ann Arbor. Any interested female students can join our current group of young ladies, free of charge for this event. This offer is open to current middle school students, as well as rising 5th graders.

Community Resources
As we near spring break, the WBMS staff wants to make sure all of our families have access to the resources they may need. This is the Oakland County Community Resource Guide, which includes resources about topics including Abuse & Protective Services; Food Pantries, Clothing & Household; Healthcare Services; Housing Assistance; and Parenting & Pregnancy Resources.
211 (United Way) offers resources/connections for family support as well. Parents/adults can call, text, or email. Here is the link to the 211 website, which is searchable by topic. Additionally, see these 211 flyers in English, Spanish, and Arabic.

Transportation: Bus Notes
If your student needs to ride a different bus home (or to a friend's house) a note must be dropped off in the main office before 1st hour, with a parent's signature. The note will be processed and can be picked up by the student during the day. The notes, authorized with a staff signature must be handed to the driver of the route. Students who do not have signed notes will not be allowed to ride a different bus.

Trusted Adults - Please encourage your students to utilize trusted adults in their schools. When we focus on relationship building, the culture of the school becomes one of inclusion and support where students feel comfortable confiding in trusted adults.

Medication at school
This includes, but is not limited to Tylenol, Tums, prescriptions, and Advil. Under no circumstances can a student be in possession of medication without the proper forms on file. Students possessing medication without the forms on file or distributing medication to other students will be subject to discipline following the district's Code of Conduct.
