Joyfully Embracing Our Mission
St. Clare School Family News | 18 October 2020
You Belong to God: Chosen and Loved.
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians
in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
grace to you and peace.
We give thanks to God always for all of you,
remembering you in our prayers,
unceasingly calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love
and endurance in hope of our Lord Jesus Christ,
before our God and Father,
knowing, brothers and sisters loved by God,
how you were chosen.
For our gospel did not come to you in word alone,
but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with much conviction.
~ 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5B
Dear St. Clare School Families,
Paul's message to the Thessalonians could have been written by any one of us to any one of us in these days of COVID. We need constant reminders that we are all doing "works of faith" and "labors of love"; that we ask for grace and peace and "endurance in hope"; that we have been chosen and that we are loved; and that with the Holy Spirit, we are sent forth with power and conviction to continue the work before us!
Yes, it is hard. But we must give to God what God asks of us: to love one another. What a great opportunity to show this love at this week's conferences:
PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT CONFERENCES | 19-22 October | 23 October - Local School Holiday
A few reminders and tips for the week:
- Please come on time by 12:30 P.M. to pick up your students so that teachers can eat lunch and prepare for their first conference at 1:30 P.M. Thank you.

- Wednesday will remain an “off-campus” learning day for all students.

VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE: November 4 | 6:30-7:30 P.M.
Your referral is the most important factor in the decision of new families joining St. Clare School. We hope you will invite family, friends and co-workers to check out what we have to offer. Be on the look out for communication from Ms. Cherell regarding this event.
PTG EVENTS
Please read separate posts from PTG regarding Red Ribbon Week and the Halloween Car Parade.
Correction: Costumes appropriate for a Catholic elementary school may be worn to school during the school day. No weapons, scary/gory/violent costumes or make up please. If you have to ask, then perhaps it is not appropriate.

CONSIDERING RETURNING IN T2?
On November 2nd, we will begin communications as you consider your options for the second trimester. (The first trimester ends November 13 and the second trimester begins November 16.) Depending on the numbers, we may institute a hybrid schedule with one group on campus on Mondays and Tuesdays and another on Thursdays and Fridays. More information on this as we firm up plans as an internal team of educators.

Voluntary COVID Testing for Children; Flu Shots
Thank you to all the families that attended the Return to School orientation last night. Be on the lookout for more information in the coming days about logistics and more.
Thank you to Jane Wulf (8th grade parent) for sharing the information below. St. Clare is not requiring a negative COVID test to return to in-person learning, but families may want to have their children tested before returning.
Families with children of any age are welcome to schedule a free COVID nasal swab test. Results are sent by text/email within 2-3 days (in the past I have received mine within 24 hrs). I recommend scheduling a test for the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds site:

This testing is for people who live, work, attend school, or assist with care for a resident of Santa Clara County.

You will be asked to provide optional insurance information to help offset the costs related to providing the test. The insured(s) is NOT billed. Insurance is NOT required to be tested. The fairgrounds location is a drive-thru site open Tuesdays-Fridays (12p-6:45p) and Saturdays (9a-3p).
In addition, flu shots are offered free of charge across the street (Fairground expo building) on Saturdays.
