From the first meeting of incoming eighth grade students at NMS, the NHS Guidance Department puts a strong emphasis on always doing the best you can.
Social development and extracurricular achievements also play a large role in shaping a student as they develop through high school. Final grades are not the only or best way to measure a person's achievement but they do remain the main method. Here are some factors to think about when considering what a students final transcript means:
-Doing the best you can and seeing the results gives a student positive momentum and an increased feeling of self worth and confidence.
-Classes taken and grades received over a high school career is the number one point of emphasis for an institute of higher education.
-Opportunities for scholarships and merit money increase with better grades
-Future employers look at GPA on a resume, especially at a competitive workplace. Many believe that a new employee with no experience but was a good student will be able to easily transition into a job when trained properly.
-Lifetime earnings has long been connected to school success
RepVisits: College admissions representatives visits at NHS (virtually) on Wednesday November, 18th include Sacred Heart, Salem State, Stonehill and College of the Lady of the Elms. We encourage students in all grades to consider registering for any school meetings that interest you.
Guidance continues to support students in any way possible. Be sure to visit the main page of our website for continued updates and added tutorials in regards to college apps on the Resource page. The Main Page steadily updates with college open house information and college financial information. Don’t hesitate to email or request a meeting if you have any questions or concerns about anything school related.
