Principal's Note...

Dear Thunderbird Families,

We are happy to welcome Jennifer Bridgman to the Thornhill community. She will be our 2nd grade teacher, replacing Ms. LaFleur, for the remainder of the school year.

From Ms. Bridgman:

"I have been an educator for over 25 years. After receiving my Masters degree and teaching credential from UC Berkeley, I taught grades K-5 in both the Bay Area and Colorado. I have 6 years of experience with 2nd grade in particular. I call it the “fun” grade because this age group has such a natural curiosity for learning! I also taught about a half-mile from here for 9 years at Havens School in Piedmont as a Science and Math specialist."

We are just one week away from our biggest fundraiser of the year - the Thornhill Auction on February 24. Please attend if you can to support our wonderful kids and to also have a great time!

Mr. Daubenspeck

From The PFC Co-Presidents

Hi Thunderbird Families,

We have posted the librarian position and are slowly receiving resumes. We hope to have a new staff member in the Library soon. If you know anyone interested in the position, please have them send their resume to In the meantime, the teachers continue to have library time each week and we have several volunteers keeping the room in order.

We can't believe it, but the auction is almost here!!! Please join us on February 24 for an amazing evening of food, drinks, fun, and bidding on amazing items to support our school. We want to give a HUGE thanks to Solvig and the auction team for all of their efforts in putting this on!

Compassionate Kids' Club--Mission Accomplished!

The best leaders lead by example, and I was able to observe some in the making.

I want to commend the following fourth grade students, Alice, Fiona, Jaden, Lila, Myles, Sabrina, Talia, YiYi, and Zoe, who faithfully gave up their lunch recesses every Monday for the past few months in hopes of brightening the lives of others.

Our 2018 New Year projects included completing our 2017 "gift bags" for the homeless. We were able to do this thanks to your kind donations placed in the lobby donation box. In January, the students voted on two projects they wished to complete for this school year. They decided to make inspirational valentine cards for children who have cancer and to donate pet treats to homeless shelter pets. Their heartfelt, beautiful cards went to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and their packages of treats went to ARF. Special thanks to Fiona and her family for donating a blanket and bag of dog food to ARF as well.

As a "bonus", the students worked on one more surprise project in "the random act of kindness category" for someone. I am happy to say all projects were completed, and this concludes our work for this school year.

Special thanks to Principal Daubenspeck, Ms. Novak and Ms. Gustafson for their wonderful support.

Happy Spring, Everyone!

Keiko Nobusada
