November Edition 2022, Sunset Elementary School
Principal's Corner with Mrs. Montecucco
Fall conferences are just around the corner! Conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22. We plan for all conferences to be in the classroom, but if a Zoom conference is preferable, we will be able to accommodate your request. Please be on the lookout for an email from your child's teacher with information on how to sign up for a conference. We are looking forward to meeting with all of you to share your child’s progress and discuss goals for the school year.

Veteran's Day @ Sunset
Veterans Day is fast approaching! It is our desire to honor the men and women who have served so faithfully in our armed forces. As part of our upcoming Veterans Day assemblies, we would like to present a slideshow honoring members of our armed forces, both past and present from our community. If you would like to help with this project, please send a photo of a family member or friend (in uniform if possible) who has served or is currently serving in any branch of the U.S. armed forces. Our students are invited to wear a hat and themed colors of red, white and blue on Thursday, November 10!
DETAILS: Clearly label your picture with the name, branch and relationship to your Sunset student. Digital pictures would be preferred! Please send your pictures via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you submit a paper copy of a photo, please send it to school with YOUR CHILD’S NAME so these precious pictures can be returned. We also ask that you include a phone number on the back of the photo in case we have any questions. Please do not send any “heirloom” or “irreplaceable” photos with students. To be included in the slideshow, your photo must be received by Friday, November 4th, 2022. Students are welcome to invite family or friends who are veterans to join us in recognizing Veterans Day on Thursday, November 10. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Fall Festival - Show Your Spirit!
Hello Fabulous Falcon Families!
This month we share with you some tools to help discuss with your student(s) how they are feeling and a strategy they can use to calm down. We use what is called the Zones of Regulation to talk about our feelings. Ask your child about green, red, yellow or red zones. At Sunset our staff work hard to add tools and strategies for our kids to regulate. Such a lifelong skill too!
