OCEAN Field Trip: Friday February 3rd
Ancient Chinese Studies: Seattle Asian Art Museum & Wing Luke Museum
Our next field trip is on Friday February 3rd. We are going to the Seattle Asian Art Museum (SAAM) and the Wing Luke Museum (WLM) to learn more about Ancient Chinese culture, art, and history to expand our learning aligned with our China unit in English and Social Studies (K-8).
Important: Please RSVP via email ASAP if you want to come. We have a lot of students this year and need to know the numbers in advance so we can make sure there are enough seats on the bus for students. You must have a permission slip signed to attend this field trip (get one from a teacher).
WE NEED CHAPERONES: 1 adult for every 5~6 students.
Let Koyuki know if you’d like to be a Chaperone.
Who: K-12th Graders
When: February 3rd
Meeting Time: 7:15 AM in Koyuki’s classroom (802)
Trip Leaves: 7:30 AM
Trip Returns: 6:45 PM
What to bring: Backpack to carry your water bottle, lunch, and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes to walk in.
PARENTS AND FAMILY: If you want to go to be a chaperone, make sure you fill out volunteer paperwork and let Koyuki know you want to join us on the field trip. Select this link

OCEAN Student Awards
At the end of the first semester the OCEAN staff have selected students who have demonstrated notable success in one of the OCEAN core principles: Opportunity, Community, Experience, Academics, and Navigation. We are so proud of students who are finding success in all areas this year. Awards were presented at movie night and will be given out in class for students not in attendance.
Opportunity: Students who are creating new opportunities for learning from each other, and promoting new ideas and interests to create a sense of place.

Community: Creating a sense of community through kindness, lending a hand towards others, sharing ideas with each other, and involvement in building community with families, peers, and/or staff.

LABWell Family Event
Parents and caregivers of LABWell students, middle and high school, are invited to a breakfast and discussion on Friday, February 10, 9-10 am, in the Blue Heron library. Enjoy some bagels and fruit, and learn about the mindfulness and self-compassion practices that we explore in LABWell. Please RSVP to teachers@thebenjiproject.org, so we know how many bagels to get!
