Keystone Opportunity Center Food Drive - March 4-8

Souderton Area School District and Keystone Opportunity Center are teaming up to fight hunger. March 4-8, we will be collecting food and household items to share with those struggling in our local community. At Vernfield Elementary School, we will be collecting the following items:

Canned Tuna, Chicken & Salmon
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes

Lip Sync - Friday, March 8!

Lip Sync is ALMOST HERE! Lip Sync will be Friday 3/8, 7 pm at Indian Crest Middle School Auditorium.

Participants: please make sure your songs are uploaded (contact Karen Planinshek @ with questions). Also, watch for an important paper coming home on Tuesday, March 5!

Menu Design Contest - "The Hawk's Nest"

VF will be celebrating the grand re-opening of the school cafeteria on Wednesday, March 27. After a school-wide vote, the cafeteria will now be known as "The Hawk's Nest". Part of the celebration includes a menu design competition! Forms were sent home this past Tuesday and are DUE FRIDAY, MARCH 8. There will be one winner selected per grade level (1st - 5th Grades). If you need a form, please contact the Main Office.

Reading Fightin Phils Ticket Book Fundraiser

The Reading Phillies have given us the opportunity to offer books of 6 general admission tickets for $27. That's only $4.50 per ticket! These tickets are good for all regular season home games at the First Energy Stadium - rated the #1 ballpark in double A baseball. 70 great games to choose from.

The best part? Vernfield HSA earns $10 for every book purchased. Plus, there will be rewards for selling 2+ or 5+ books and an ultimate fan experience for anyone selling 10+ books.

In order to have your tickets for opening day, orders must be in by March 30th. Look for forms and more details to come home with your child's communications on Tuesday.

Ticket books can also be purchased online here. Share the link with family and friends and remind them to include Vernfield HSA as the organization and your child as the name of the seller so that we all get the necessary credit!

Yearbook Order - Deadline March 15

The yearbook order deadline is only 2 weeks away on Friday, March 15! The books are $18 each and can be purchased online or through a paper form that will come home with your child on Tuesday 3/5. Go to to order online. Please contact Sandra Esposito at with any questions. Thank you!

Kindness Calendar Challenge

VF will be having a Kindness Calendar Challenge during the month of March. Calendars were sent home with students this past Tuesday. Parents: initial the boxes as your child completes the challenges and return the calendar at the end of March. The class with the greatest percentage of completed Kindness Calendars will win a reward for their class!

Hawk Pride Display Case

The next time you visit Vernfield, be sure to check out the new Hawk Pride display case located next to the Main Office. Created by Mrs. Mandia and Mrs. Case, with funding from the HSA, it showcases some of the distinctions and awards that Vernfield has earned over the years. It is a fitting, sparkling tribute to our fine school!

LITERACY DVD - The committee needs YOUR help! If you are available for even a short time during the day, please consider signing up to help with the taping of the students. The DVD Literacy team has made it very easy for volunteers with detailed instructions. SACE Winter/Spring Evening Classes -- The Winter-Spring semester begins later this month with more than 100 interesting classes for all ages. Beat the winter doldrums and learn something new.
