Updates from Mrs. Froning
November 10, 2017
November 13 - 17 is National Diversity Week
Diversity week is the kick-off week for a season of celebrating diversity in our classrooms! We strive to celebrate our diverse learning community each and every day, and National Diversity Week gives us a wonderful opportunity to extend our learning by including some purposeful (and fun) activities.
Throughout the week of November 13 - 17th, students will be learning a song based on our theme “Take a Walk in Someone else’s Shoes” by the Swing Set Mama’s. Students will learn to sing and express this song using American Sign Language. Our entire school will join voices at our All School Sing in January! Students will also create a shoe during class time that is unique to them and these creations will be on display around the building.
We will begin our morning announcements each day this week with a greeting by different Oakley Park students sharing a ”Good Morning" greeting in a different language.
Here other daily activities:

Recess Reminders:
We do occasionally have indoor recess but only due to rain or extreme cold temperature (combined temperature and wind chill of 0...some refer to this as the "feels like" temperature.)
Finally, be sure to label all items; coat, hat, glove etc so that items can be quickly returned to students if they are misplaced!
