Principal's Message
Dear Families,
I hope you were able to relax and enjoy some of the great weather this weekend, especially if you are working on the front lines during this time. I hope you know the entire community is proud of the work you are doing and of the sacrifices you are making. "Doing school" during this time may be especially difficult, and I want you to know we understand. At any point, feel free to reach out to me or your child's teacher. Most importantly, do the best you can and do what works best for your family.
I would like to take a moment and highlight that the Oconomowoc Area School District partners with Aurora Healthcare to offer free counseling services to all students and families. This program offers professional counselors to help students and families address a wide range of issues. Under this partnership, every family in the Oconomowoc Area School District is eligible for six one-hour confidential counseling sessions per topic of concern for no cost. This program may be the perfect opportunity for you, your family, or your child to seek additional and comprehensive support to cope with a variety of challenges including mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression or stress. You may also reach out to SFAP for support in dealing with grief or other family crises. Families are also eligible for a free half-hour of financial or legal consultation, and then a reduced rate after a half hour. To seek additional information, please contact either myself (Mr. Schreiber), a member of our Student Services team (Mrs. Teske, Mrs. Howells, or Ms. Ginsberg), or the SFAP program directly at 1-800-236-3231.
Are you looking for some new online resources to engage your child? Try these three freebies!
"For as long as schools are closed, we're open. Starting today, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids. All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet. Explore the collection, select a title and start listening."
"GoNoodle: Good Energy at Home is a free online resource that provides tons of ways for kids and families to be active, stay mindful, and keep on learning!"
"Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations."
Finally, I hope you share the video below with your child/children. It is important for them to know that school continues to be a safe place, even when they are not there. We miss your children and can't wait for the day when we can all be together again!
Take care, be well, and Paws Up!
Mr. Schreiber

Counselor's Corner
Dear Families,
This is a difficult time for kids and adults. As the school counselor, I have checked in with many students this year and am happy to continue to do so! Even if I haven’t talked to your student outside of class, you and they are welcome to reach out now! My email is Howellss@oasd.org, and I will do my best to respond to all emails sent to me within 24 hours. If a call would be better, let me know and we can set that up! It may help to have a contact outside the home.
Having a set schedule and following it can help maintain calm. You can include time for outdoor play, puzzles, games, or crafts, as well as academics. I would also recommend that students get limited access to the news – it can be overwhelming. The adults will help figure it out.
If your family needs resources other than emotional support, please let me know and I will do my best to help you connect with those.
Be well and kind to each other,
Sarah Howells
