PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
New Students
A big HNP welcome to new student Cheyla-Jay Hawkins who started with us this week.
Student Placement Considerations for 2022
While we do not encourage parent requests, if there is something specific that we may not already know about your child that could impact our class placement decision making, please let me know by the end of today on principal@hnps.school.nz. Tomorrow teachers will begin the tricky process of making up class lists.
If your child will no longer be at HNPS in 2022, can you please let the school office know by emailing Kerin on admin@hnps.school.nz Thank you.
Covid
Just a reminder that parents who support the school in a supervision or support role will need to be vaccinated and prove their vaccination status. This includes coaching, managing a sports team (regardless of whether onsite or not), school trips/camps, parent help in the classroom. If you are currently a coach or manager of a school sports team, please email a screenshot of your Vaccination Card to pjackson@hnps.school.nz or come in to see Kerin or Paula in the office and they can record the details. We must sight the card, not just rely on your word. It has been made very clear that if unvaccinated staff or volunteers are in a teaching or supervisory role, then we are breaking the law.
We respectfully ask that you please keep students at home if they are unwell. In this current climate we need to be vigilant, so please do not be offended if we ask you to collect your child if they are showing signs of being unwell. If this is the case we advise that you contact your health professional for advice. Thank you for your understanding at this challenging time.
Year 4-6 Triathlon
I would like to congratulate all our Year 4-6 students who took part in the Triathlon at the Village Green last Friday. It was a fantastic day and all our students did so well. The most impressive aspect for me was the huge amount of encouragement and support students showed one another. A special thank you to Mrs Burrough, Mrs Cooper and Mrs Cranswick for their hard work in getting this event up and running. We were short-staffed last week and I was most impressed by our staff and how they stepped up. A big thank you to the core group of parents who helped make the day a success. You are gems!
Senior Cultural Show
Tomorrow we have our Senior Cultural show at the Peak Vision Church. It is a real shame we can not have parents in attendance, but we will record the performance. This will be a great opportunity for our students to showcase their talents at a wonderful venue. A special thank you to Ms Washington and the Arts team for their hard work in coordinating this show.
Have a fantastic week everyone.

Forest and Bird have made the link to the full article around the Maui Dolphin public so everyone can access it.
Well done to Lucia for being so proactive in sharing her/our story with Forest and Bird. Such amazing leadership and a powerful way to make such a positive difference!
Whanau may wish to take up the challenge to send the postcard from the link to Jacinda Ardern, sharing their thoughts on saving our seas.

Team Seas Fundraising
Hello, We are Samuel, Max and Cooper from Room 13 and Jack from Room 11. We are raising money for Team Seas.
Team Seas are running one of the biggest, baddest, most-impactful cleanup projects of all time to clean up our rivers, beaches and oceans. We want to help the effort by having a fundraiser at our school.
Trash kills all marine wildlife. If you were to cut up a fish and it had rubbish in it you would be eating it too, so please help us at HNPS to raise money to clean our oceans.
You can find out more information about Team Seas at https://teamseas.org/
We will be having a BAKE SALE on Friday 3rd December.
If you would like to donate cupcakes, fudge, cookies or any other baking, please bring it to the Hall Kitchen on Friday 3rd.
If you would like to buy some of our delicious baking just bring your money. We will be outside the hall at 2:30.
If you don’t eat baking you can still make a difference by donating directly at https://teamseas.org/ or by dropping your donation into Room 13.
