Biography
Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in the major leagues of baseball. He was born in Cairo, Georgia in 1919. He went to college at UCLA and he fought in World War II.

In baseball Jackie Robinson was the Rookie of the year in 1947, a Most valuable player in 1949, and was placed in the Hall of fame in 1962.

It was very hard for Jackie Robinson to be the first African-American major league baseball player because people yelled at him and screamed at him because of the color of his skin. Even though Jackie Robinson got angry he didn't fight back because he knew it was important for him to be a role model for others.
