***Tune into WRBI for school closing or delays due to bad weather. Remember we follow Batesville Schools. Also we do still have am preschool on delay days. We start at 9:45 and go until 10:45. Please do not stress about coming, we are here for only an hour and I know delay days can be hard!****
Parents Corner
There is A LOT going on in the month of February!
During this month the PreK children will be working with the kindergarteners to do a service project for the police and firefighters in the Batesville area. The plan is to walk over our special treats! We will have a firefighter visit our school and then also take a tour of the police station. Every grade is tasked with doing a service project during Catholic Schools Week. We are excited to contribute!
We are going to get to visit Ms. Kushman, the music teacher. Her instruments make it really fun!
The children love to celebrate Valentines Day. We take time to talk about our love for each other and for God. For our classroom Valentines exchange, please DO NOT write the name of classmates on each Valentine card/envelope. Only fill in your child's name. It is an excellent time to have your children practice their name, but remember it is a small space and only do a few at a time! Please do not send in ANY food items due to allergies. Pencils, stickers, tattoos, etc are fine but not necessary. Here are the numbers for each class:
M/W/F am 21
M/W/F pm 10
Tues./Thurs. am 16
Tues./Thurs. pm 12
Please note the PreK classes will be meeting with our fourth grade buddies on that day, so if you wanted to add some extra Valentines Cards (sometimes the preschoolers have more then one buddy) to given them, that is great!
As I previously announced SLP was awarded a grant from the Joan and John W. Hillenbrand VISION Fund. Well now we are ready to put that money to good use! As part of the grant, we are able to bring in our local mobile science museum, Kids Discovery Mobile Factory. I am about as excited as the kids are going to be when they see the exhibit. They will be exploring energy and movement!
SLP Open House will be on Thursday 3/2 from 5:00-7:00. This Open House is designed for new parents to see our facilities and get to know the teachers. If you know anyone interested in sending their child to preschool next year, we would really appreciate spreading the word. If you are currently enrolled in our program you do not need to attend in order to register. We will be distributing registration forms soon. I would encourage you to return the forms as soon as possible to secure your spot.
God in Our Lives
With Catholic Schools week kicking off at the start of the month, it is a great way to get re-energized about our faith! We continue to foster true acts of kindness and love. By acknowledging all that the Police and Firefighters do for our community, we don't just speak about our belief, but put them into action.
Zoophonics Alphabet News
PeeWee p Penguin
Many of the children wait all year for letter Pp week. We will all (yes even the teachers) be wearing our pajamas to school and eating pancakes for snack. It really is a super fun day with the kids. If your kiddo does not want to wear pajamas to school, don't feel like you have to press the issue. it is just for fun! We will also take time to talk about prayers, both formal and informal.
Queenie q. Quail
Queenie (Qq) and Umber (Uu) are best friends. Through a fun story and song, we will learn about how the letter Qq will never appear without the letter Uu right by it. The PreK class will learn about Mary as our Queen and make a craft that will be a keep sake for parents!
