Linda Lawson, Librarian

7th Grade Science

7th grade Science students spent time in the library with Ms. Lawson learning about research techniques and using a presentation model called Smore. Each student was assigned an organ system and a specific organ to research and to explore the functions and how it interacts with the rest of the body. 7th grade parents received an email from their child that included a link to the research project they completed.

During a REbeL meeting members discussed people who make a difference in their lives. REbeL members named teachers, friends, family, and other people in their lives that have taught them something worthwhile, helped them through a difficult time, helped them on a journey through school, and have made them feel special and appreciated.

Hooked On Books

Leawood Middle School will be participating in Hooked on Books School Challenge. We will collect new or gently used books appropriate for children age birth to age 14. The books will be given to Reach Out and Read Kansas City, which is the only medically-based early literacy nonprofit in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Reach Out and Read Kansas City prepares young children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to give new books to children to encourage families to read together. We will be collecting books January 11th – February 19th in the library and by the front door.
