We hope your families enjoy time together filled with relaxation, gratefulness and love!
Please remember our students will have a little extra break this Thanksgiving:

HOPE FOR HAITI!
What is the excitement around these blue "Hope for Haiti" bracelets and when can you get them?
The East Hills French classes and Freedom HS French Club are supporting a non-profit organization, Hope for Haiti, by helping raise money for schoolchildren in Haiti. Just $2.00 a bracelet will help go towards buying backpacks full of school supplies, pay for school fees, and help rebuild schools in Haiti.
This summer, the island country was in the Caribbean was hit by an earthquake and tropical storm, along with continuing political unrest. Schools are rebuilding with the help of Hope for Haiti. To learn more, go to www.hopeforhaiti.com.
Update: We have sold a lot, but there are more here to sell! Let's get those supplies to Haitian students who need them!!
If you or your child would still like to purchase a bracelet, please send him/her to Mrs. Louw, our French teacher. You can reach her at clouw@basdschools.org
STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR ID TO MEALS!!!!
Our cafeteria workers NEED to have students bring their IDs to meals.
We need students to be considerate because we often have long lines due to students needed to share their 7 digit number(which is sometimes hard to hear) once or twice or three times before the student can move on. These lines can create crowding, especially at breakfast, and it is completely unnecessary.
Please remind your child to be responsible and considerate and to bring their ID to meals EVERYDAY!
Rotation 3 and Trimester 2 Starts on December 2nd
East Hills is Thankful for...

Students describe her as responsible, creative, interesting, chill, funny, awesome, amazing, helpful, laid back and cool.
We love you, Mrs. DePaulo!

Steelworkers Archives Legacy Writing
Please help us spread the word about the Richard Check Steelworker’s Archives Legacy Writing Contest. It's always wonderful to have a strong representation of student entries from our middle schools. Please share the information below with your ELA/Reading and Social Studies teachers.
The Steelworkers Archives has brought back the Richard Check Steelworker’s Archives Legacy Writing Contest for the 2021-2022 school year. This writing contest is open to all Bethlehem Area School District Students in grades 6, 7, and 8. We are asking that English and Social Studies teachers assist once more in announcing the writing contest and recruiting students to participate in the contest.
Students can either submit well-written essays or well-written poems of more than 250 words to be considered for the three monetary prizes:
1st Place - $300; 2nd Place $200; 3rd Place $100
Per the Steelworkers Archives, award-winning essays must relate to the experiences of a family member, a well-done research of a former steel worker, a major steel operation, the impact the Steel had on the Bethlehem Community and beyond. Essays and poems should be interesting and show some originality. Bethlehem Steel is gone but some of its former facilities are still operating; that could be a topic as well.
Important Dates
Friday, April 8, 2022 - Student deadline to submit their essays and poems to their teachers.
Tuesday, April 12, 2022 - Teacher deadline to submit the submitted essays and poems to their school office.
Tuesday April 19, 2022 - Building deadline to submit the essays and poems to Mrs. Harper.
Friday, April 22, 2022 - Tuesday April 26, 2022 - Submissions picked up by a representative of the Steelworkers Archives.
The Committee selected by the Steelworkers Archives Board will meet after these dates to read these essays and poems and recommend the essay and poem selection to the Steelworkers Archives for award. Once the Steelworkers Archives Board makes these recommendations official, they will notify Mrs. Harper who will then notify the building principal(s) and teacher(s) so that students can be notified.
In the past, the award-winning students presented their essays and poems at a BASD School Board meeting and received their certificates and monetary award.
FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH THIS YEAR!
Masks!
The majority of our students are following mask expectations each day and all day. As a reminder it is the district expectation that all students wear masks appropriately (covering their nose and mouth) while inside the school building and on buses.
Please emphasize the importance of this expectation. Teachers and teams will notify the parents of any students who continuously need to be reminded. Please follow up with your child if you are called. We need to maintain safe and consistent practices and avoid defiance issues.
Need Technology Support?
First, our amazing technology wizard, Mrs. Laura Martin, has put together a FANTASTIC site for you to go to when you or your child needs help. Visit this resource whenever you have a question regarding technology for you or your child!
Second, you can always go to our website to find tools and connection to help should something go wrong with your child's chrome book.
Lastly, our district has a webpage dedicated to everything "tech" you can check it out here:

Charger Pride Expectations and Rewards!
We will continue to utilize our Charger Pride Expectations to recognize and reward positive behaviors and academic achievement. Our Charger Pride Expectations Program is a tiered reinforcement effort that focuses on acknowledging students for good behavior while being Prepared, being Respectful, showing Integrity, showing Determination, and displaying Enthusiasm. Our tiered system has allowed students the opportunity to win numerous prizes, brunches, lunch rewards, trips, and activities. Donations of prizes to help promote this program are welcomed whenever possible. We sincerely thank the many parents, community members, and local businesses who have supported our efforts in this program. Please feel free to contact the school if you would be willing to help us in this endeavor.
