Everything You Need to Know About the Homecoming Dance
Game- October 29th 7pm Welsh
Dance- Friday, October 30th 8-11pm. Lake Charles Country Club
We are working hard to give our students a sense of normalcy & something to celebrate after a challenging year while observing safety guidelines handed down by the CDC.
According to Governor John Bel Edwards guidelines for Phase 3, “Outdoors, crowd sizes are limited to 50 percent capacity, up to 250 people, if people will be in close proximity and social distancing is not possible, masks are required.”
We understand that some parents may not feel comfortable allowing their student to attend. This is not a mandatory dance. We will require all students to follow the guidelines provided below regarding face masks, social distancing, wardrobe stipulations & conduct to ensure a successful, safe & memorable experience for our Saints.
Homecoming Q&A
- Is the dance mandatory? NO- If you are not comfortable with your student attending, they are not required to attend.
- What are you doing regarding COVID precautions? We will follow the CDC guidelines regarding Phase 3. Masks will be required at all times. Temperatures will be taken before entry. Crowd size will be limited to 250 students. The seniors & juniors will be in one tent and the freshmen & sophomores will be in another tent.
- What is the attire for the homecoming dance? It is semi-formal dress Ladies: No cut-outs, bare midriffs or low cut. Dress must reach the end of fingertips. Mid- thigh is not acceptable Gentleman: must be in slacks, button down shirt & tie. Guidelines MUST be followed or the student will be denied entry.
- What is the latest my student can arrive at the dance? 9PM- All students must arrive by 9pm. NO exceptions.

Remote Learners & Attendance
Students have until Friday, November 6 to opt to continue learning remotely for the first semester. These students will keep their same assigned Remote Learning Facilitator to help keep them on track. Students are expected to attend class meetings in Teams during their scheduled class time unless there is an extenuating circumstance. Click here to review the Remote Learning Policies.
If your student has decided to continue learning remotely or return to campus, please alert Mrs. Dawn Mayo in the office (dmayo@slchs.org) by Friday, November 6. Changes for the first semester cannot be made after this date.
Remote Learning Fridays
Students will receive assignments or lessons to complete on Fridays in their weekly agendas. Teachers will provide this information at the beginning of the week so that students can work on it at their own pace. We are using this time to extend learning, preparation for the ACT, and working on assignments to prepare for week ahead.
Many of our teachers are using Prep Factory, an engaging ACT prep website where for students can complete pre-quizzes, which will help Prep Factory design lessons specific to the students’ needs. There are four pre-quizzes available, which test students’ English, reading, math, and science skills. These pre-quizzes will help determine the study path for our students.
Another benefit to Prep Factory is the ACT Strategy lessons, which help students learn the best way to approach taking the ACT. These strategy lessons will help students become more confident test-takers.
Prep Factory also provides students with practice sets for each section of the ACT, so students have several opportunities to practice English, reading, math, and science questions that come directly from the ACT.
As a bonus, students can challenge each other by playing the Wordplay, Grammarplay, and Numberplay challenges.
End of Q1
The first quarter ends on Friday, November 6. Report cards will be emailed on Friday, November 13.
