Our 3rd Grade Website:
Mr. Miller's class and ours have partnered up to create a website! Your child should have a bright yellow paper coming home with them that has their password to skill practice sites. (I know many are on SumDog often already!)
Our site is www.cres3rdgrade.weebly.com
Here you will find other information/websites that are helpful for the areas you want to work on with your child. They are divided up by subject so feel free to use them as often as you'd like and take time to look at what is on here!
Let me know of any questions or problems you have when using the website. We are very excited to give students this resource to use as often as they want/need!
Announcements:
The Student Council's annual food drive will continue through this week! We have two boxes outside of our classroom to collect food. I am hoping we can get to 30 items or more to donate. We are at 3 so far!
Headphone Update: We would like to have students (who are able) bring their own headphones to use in the computer lab. These headphones would be stored in our classroom and taken down to the lab when they go. This will help to prevent germs from sharing headphones, as well as guarantee that your child always has their own headphones to use. Please send these to school with your student and I will place them in a bag with their name. These will be returned at the end of the school year.

What Are We Up To In Room 115?
Math
We are focusing on fractions this week and will continue to work on fact mastery for multiplication/division. Students will be learning about part-whole and the ways that fractions are useful.
Reading/Writing
We are continuing to focus on nonfiction through Thanksgiving Break. This week we will look at subjects and compare how authors views differ on topics, learning why it is important to use multiple sources.
Students will continue to compare the past and present as they write informational text about a person from Connor Prairie and their role in the 1800's and today is 2014.
Science
Sound and Light: We are learning properties of sound. The end goal will be to create our own musical instruments that demonstrate what we've learned about sound.
