Principal Message
Greetings, Ride Families!
It’s hard to believe our 4th grades are already preparing to go to Collins Intermediate for 5th grade next year. They visited Collins this week to hear about the school, orientation information, picking electives and instruments, and toured the building. I feel like they came back a little bit older. For some reason, that visit makes them stand taller and feel more grown up (than the hour before they went over there) lol…. I love to watch them grow and mature into their own person. I know they will have a great year in 5th grade.
We opened our spring book fair in the library this week. All the proceeds go to the library to benefit our students. The kids love the library and we definitely have avid readers at Ride. Be sure to check below to set up your ewallet
Spring Creek was a big hit this week. We appreciate your coming to Spring Creek and/or ordering from there to support Ride. They are very generous with the school percentage, rewarding classes with the most visitors, as well as supporting the teachers. They gave every employee a $12 coupon. Spring Creek's support is better than any other business in the area. So, I want to Thank you for participating in the Spring Creek Ride night. Besides all of that, the kids love seeing their teachers and their friends!!
I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend. Don't forget it is a 4 day weekend. We will return to school on Tuesday, April 11th.
Online Registration for the 2023-24 school years is open for all grade levels.
Have a great weekend,
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham

It’s Book Fair Time
Our Book Fair is April 11th – 17th in the school library. During the week, the Book Fair is open from 7:30 – 3:00. The Book Fair will also be open the evening of April 14th during Ride Through the Decades. Our last day of book fair is Monday, April 17th. Thanks for supporting our Book Fair. Profits support our Sally K Ride library.
Digital Payment Option for Book Fair
We have a great digital payment option that is highly encouraged for students to use. Parents can set up an eWallet for students, deposit money into it, and students will not have to bring money to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sallykrideelementaryschool
to open up an eWallet account for your child. Any left over money in the eWallet will be put on a gift card for your student to use at future fairs or online. If you have money left over from the last book fair, you can sign in to your ewallet and transfer the money to this book fair.
Book Fair Volunteers Needed
We have some wonderful Book Fair volunteer opportunities from April 4th – April 18th! Please click here to sign up to volunteer!

Thanks for volunteering!
Teacher Book Fair Wish Lists
Teachers have a wish list of books that they would like for their classroom. If you would like to purchase your child’s teacher a book, each teacher has a box in the book fair with books they would like for their classroom. You can pull a book out of their box and purchase it for them. It is always fun to let your child deliver it as a gift to his/her teacher and classroom.
Thanks for supporting the SKR teachers and the SKR library!
Ride Through The Decades
The 2023 Ride through the Decades Spring Carnival planning committee is looking for silent auction items. If you own a business and would like to donate we would love to help promote your business. 100% of the funds raised through the silent auction go directly to the PTO, which then go directly into the school.
PTO funds various school functions including field trips, math and reading tutoring, teacher support, professional development, substitute pay, computer programs/licenses, technology, reading incentive programs, playground equipment and repairs, copy paper, school beautification and so much more. All funds the PTO raises goes towards enhancing each child's education at Sally K. Ride.

Lunch Sign-Up
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are offering two options for lunch signups. You will have the opportunity to sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.
Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have a lunch visitor once every 3.5-week period. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
