Eagles' News Brief:
March 7, 2021
We will send kits home with our in-person students. Be sure to grab your child's kit before their experience. Thank you!
PTA Volunteers Needed
We are also in need of additional PTA Volunteers in general. If you are willing to assist, please contact Bonnie Fagley at 919-602-7064. We promise we can work with your schedule and no amount of time volunteered (in-person or virtually) is too small.
Thank you!

Character Strength: Social Intelligence!
Social intelligence means that you are aware of other people’s thoughts and feelings. You understand why they do things. It refers to a person’s ability to understand and manage interpersonal relationships — and is distinct from a person’s IQ or “book smarts.” It includes an individual’s ability to understand, and act on, the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors of other people. This type of intelligence can take place “in the moment” of face-to-face conversations but also appears during times of deliberate thinking. It involves emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
Examples of social intelligence include knowing when to talk or listen, what to say, and what to do. Timing is a big part of social intelligence. For example, someone who is imperceptive may tell a funny joke – but at the wrong time, or not show enough interest when meeting someone new.

Reminders for a Safe Return to Campus!
Please keep your child home if ANYONE in your household is sick. Please DO NOT send students to school they are sick or if ANYONE in your household is sick or has recently had close contact with someone who is sick. If one child from your household leaves school early, due to illness, all children from your household will be required to leave school and remain out until they meet the requirements for returning. Review the requirements for returning to school after diagnosis, exposure, or illness.
Everyone MUST wear a mask, always. Parents: I encourage you to send your child to school with an extra mask or two in case a change is needed. Masks are required unless students are eating, drinking, or engaging in a uniform mask break under the direction of a teacher.
Please send your student with a labeled water bottle and their individual supplies. Students will not be able to drink from the water fountain and they will not be able to share school supplies. Please be sure to pack your child’s charged Chromebook and any other school supplies, art supplies, and instructional materials your teacher requested.
Please be patient during arrival and dismissal. Arrival and dismissal will take longer this year. During arrival, all students will have to undergo a health screening BEFORE they exit the vehicle. Walkers should be escorted to the screening area by a parent. In the afternoons, students will be traveling from classrooms rather than waiting in the gym. We will load buses first, and then load carpool students. Dismissal will begin shortly after 3 pm.
Please remind your student to follow the directions of our staff. Many of our processes and procedures for everyday activities including lunch, recess, specials, walking in the hallway, and even visiting the restroom have changed. It is important that we all remain respectful and follow the new procedures. They are in place to keep everyone safe.
