Our return to school
We have reviewed all the arrangements day by day and made a number of small changes as we have gone along. The areas below are important reminders, updates and some new information for next week.
Arrival and dismissal from school
To sustain this, we would ask that students do not arrive more than 5 minutes before their entry time.
Having reviewed our dismissal routines we are amending them on Monday 21st September.
These small changes will help students to leave the site with greater distancing between bubbles. It will also reduce 'bubble mixing' at bus stops and on buses.
We would remind you that, where possible, students are encouraged to avoid public transport, particularly at peak times, and to walk or cycle to school if they possibly can. Students arriving by bicycle will be supervised in storing their bike in one of our cycle stores and they will then be directed to enter the school by their designated entrance.

Catering
We understand that the circumstances of some families may have changed during COVID-19. This means that you may now also be eligible to claim free school meals. If you think this could be the case, please complete the application form on our website https://www.uhs.org.uk/page/?title=Catering&pid=19. The link to the form can be found at the bottom of the web page and will take you through to our catering company.
School events and visitors
Our normal open evening will necessarily be replaced with online materials and videos on our website. These will become live over the next couple of weeks. We will update you via Twitter when they do.
We are currently examining ways in which we can consult with parents instead of traditional parents' evenings. Again, we will provide details of the first of these events for Year 7 parents in due course.

Sixth form
We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday 28th September.
Covid
If students feel ill whilst in school they must inform a member of staff immediately. If they are displaying symptoms that could be COVID they will be treated by our welfare officer and, if necessary, the parents will be contacted so that the student can go home. It is important that if students are displaying COVID symptoms before they leave home, they must not come in to school. Absences should be reported via the student absence line by calling 01895 234060 and choosing option 1.
Examinations
We will update parents as soon as we have information. Meanwhile, our staff and students are working full steam ahead so that they can demonstrate their hard work in the examination/ assessment arrangements that are finally confirmed.
