The Power of Parent Communication
Email- yeah, not that powerful of a communication tool
Phone call - better
Offering a parent a time to meet in person....PRICELESS!!
When a parent emails you, I really want you to pause and consider if this is really a conversation best had in voice. Calling a parent to discuss their concern or celebration builds connection and trust. When we offer a time to meet with a parent, we show them that we are willing to give of our time to meet with them, we show them they are valuable to their child's success.
Every day you get small emails about a child missing school, a missing item, etc...these are easily answered via email....but just because they started with an email does not mean you should respond with an email.
Give it some thought: also a clue - if the email triggered you in any way....don't answer in writing...trust me!! This sign is on my desk: "Don't Push Send"!!
The next two tabs have information about what parents want and how they feel about parenting. Good stuff
