Chester Elementary Newsletter

Week of March 15, 2021

Hello Chester Families,

Our Governing Board voted unanimously to return to full-time in person instruction on Monday, April 26th. We are currently working on schedules and logistics to make this a smooth transition. As details get worked out, I will share more specifics. The plan at this time is a full day on Monday-Thursday and a minimum day on Fridays. All health and safety protocols will still be in place with masking, frequent hand washing, and spacing. Students will have lunch on campus. We are happy to see all our students together safely!

Unfortunately, our make up picture day will not take place. Lifetouch has been impacted significantly by the school closures due to Covid-19 and cancelled any future dates this year. Since CES has already been photographed, anyone that ordered pictures should expect to receive their packets.

All CES classes are participating in March Book Madness this month. Much like a "March Madness" basketball bracket, we are reading and voting on 8 books school wide. At the end of March, we will announce our 2021 March Book Madness winner for CES. See the image below to view our books. Ask your kids what book they heard each day. It is a great conversation starter!

Thank you to all those that participated in our Read-A-Thon. We earned over $2500 for the PTA!

Stay Well,

Colly Fischer

Updated Screening Procedures

As a response to the everchanging Covid Playbook, we will not be screening students at the door as they enter. Parents will be asked to screen students prior to arrival at school. In summary, parents will check to see how their child is feeling prior to sending them to school. If there are any symptoms, you will not send them. If students display any symptoms while at school or at home, the same procedure of staying home 10 days, or getting a medical clearance or a Covid test still remain in place. It is important to call the school when your child is absent!
