Blue Bear Notes
September 2017
A message From Mrs. Bryant
Hi Blue Bear Families!
August was a great month and I enjoyed being back in the classrooms with your students. We learned about “Being the BEST ME”, showing our SPARK, making a good first impression, understanding feelings, and how to make an appointment with the school counselor! As part of our comprehensive guidance program, I will have personal safety lessons appropriate for each grade level in the month of September. Please look for a parent letter that will be coming home with more details. If you’d like to preview the safety lesson, I will have a parent viewing of K-4 from 9:30-10 am and the 5th grade video 10-10:30 on Wednesday September 6th. You may contact Mrs. Bryant at Lbryant@forsyth.k12.ga.us for questions or to RSVP. Thanks for partnering with Mashburn Elementary School to keep our students safe!

Blue Bear Festival
Mentoring Program
Hi Blue Bears! As we start off another Ridiculously Amazing school year at Mashburn, we are looking for mentors to work with some of our Blue Bears!
Here are some questions you may have about mentoring:
What is a mentor?
The dictionary defines ‘mentor’ as a wise and trusted counselor and teacher. In Forsyth County, adult mentors volunteer from the community to provide support and guidance to provide support and guidance to help students achieve academic and personal success.
What will I do as a mentor?
As a mentor, you will meet with your assigned student in school at a scheduled time during the school day. Mentors/Mentees will meet for about 30 minutes per week. While together, the two may read, talk, study, or play games. The mentor may also help their mentee with class assignments and setting personal goals.
The county is offering training sessions at the Forsyth Board of Education on:
August 29, 2017 6-7:30pm
September 26, 2017 6-7:30pm
October 24, 2017 6-7:30pm
If we get enough interest, we may also schedule a training here at Mashburn. Please email Mrs. Bryant at Lbryant@forsyth.k12.ga.us to let her know if you are interested in mentoring this school year!
Family Mindset Night!
House Meetings Begin This Month!

Our mindset for September is Everything is Possible. Everything is Possible helps us understand that we are all capable of extraordinary lives. Everything that exists was once an idea that someone believed was possible, and through that belief it became a reality.
