What is happening at North Clackamas Christian School?

Fourth Grade Learns New Responsibility

Each day, our 4th grade students are responsible for raising and lowering the American flag in front of the school. They have been trained on how to properly handle the flag, including folding it when they take it down. Luke VanSickle, a junior, spent time with the students to prepare them for this new responsibility. Luke is in the Color Guard and is well trained in correct handling of the American flag. Thank you to our 4th grade class for taking leadership in our school!

Honoring Our Local Fire Department

High School students from Leadership class are putting together a gift basket to present to first responders at our local fire station to honor them as they serve us daily. They hope to collect individually packaged snacks and personal messages from you to deliver the end of the month. Donations and notes are being collected in Rm 400 (Mrs. Hilst), or dropped off at the office, through Jan. 28.

Val-O-Gram Senior Class Fundraiser

It's almost February! That means Valentine's Day is fast approaching and it's Val-o-Gram season! What is a Val-o-Gram? Great question! Our senior class runs this fundraiser in order to help purchase their gift back to the school upon graduation. They do all the legwork for you, purchasing and delivering little treats and treasures to be delivered here at school FOR ANY AND ALL STUDENTS (PreK-12)! Items for purchase are: Roses, Chocolates, and Teddy Bears with a note!

The order form is attached and also available in a box outside the front office starting on Monday, January 25th. Orders with payment should be placed in the marked secure box outside the office in the lobby. The due date for orders will be Monday, February 8th, 3 PM. Don't miss out on this opportunity! The senior class and their marvelous ukulele group will deliver treats for Valentine's Day on the 12th, spreading the joy and cheer!

Parent Communication and School Emergency Announcements

Please review this document AND make sure that your information is up to date in RenWeb. In the case of inclement weather, an emergency, and for general communication, current parent contact information is vital.

When you are late to school...

Parents, if you (with your student) are arriving late to school, we ask that you bring your student to the office. Please do not drop them off to enter without a parent to supervise their entry and signing in tardy. The elementary gate opens at 8:15 am an closes at 8:25 am. The secondary gate opens at 8:20 am an closes at 8:30 am. If a student arrives after the gate closes, entry must be through the office with a staff member escort to class. Thank you for your assistance in this area.

Quarantine Remote Learning Vs. Typical Sick Day

ATTENTION: Arrangements can be made to receive instruction by joining a live class via Google Meets (as appropriate and available) when a student is required to be at home due to the need to quarantine or for other prolonged medical absences (approved/pre-arranged). This option is not available for a typical sick day or vacation. This arrangement is the exception, not a standard offering, to our educational program when we are able to meet in-person. Contact should be made with both the office and the teacher regarding these matters.

National School Choice Week 2021

In 2021, National School Choice Week will take place from January 24-30, 2021. During National School Choice Week, schools and organizations across Oregon partner with families to raise awareness about the different K-12 education options available to children. This not-for-profit effort is designed to inform and assist parents, while shining a positive spotlight on the importance of opportunity in education.

Habitat Club Begins in February!

Habitat Club will begin on Friday, Feb. 19, for students in 4th grade and up. This club will be held every Friday and is a no-fee opportunity for any student wishing to participate. Students will meet after school until 3:30pm, with Mrs. B (Habitat Teacher), in our program area. Be sure to wear a warm coat, as this is an outside activity. The first project this season will be planting and labeling seeds for our spring veggie sale, then moving them into the greenhouse. If you have suggestions on veggies/herbs you would like to see started in our program, for purchase in the spring for your own garden, please let Mrs. B know. Any questions or suggestions should be directed to Mrs. B at #503-761-6306.

Soccer Season Begins Feb. 22

Our secondary students interested in playing soccer with NCCS, will begin their season Feb. 22. Prior to this, they will have field workouts after school. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Grant Nelson, Athletic Director.

2021-22 Enrollment Season

Thank you for working with us in a timely manner to complete re-enrollment for the 2021-22 school year. We have completed enrollment for current students and are now enrolling new students. We have very limited space for next year and anticipate many grades having a wait list. Please recall the policy for withdrawal, should your plans change for next school year. Contact our office with questions or assistance.

Career Information Opportunity at CCC

There is an upcoming opportunity for students to engage with employers to explore careers within the industrial technology and automotive industries. On Thursday, February 25th, from 2-4pm, students are invited to learn more about programs at Clackamas Community College and conduct informational interviews with employers via Zoom. Students will meet employers in groups of 2-3 and have the chance to ask questions to learn more about the industry, careers, and education/training needed. Event information is included below.

Students must register here,

Health Screening Prior to Daily Attendance

In our ongoing effort to keep on-site instruction possible, we remind parents of the understanding to complete daily health checks prior to school attendance. Please continue to monitor and screen your student for COVID-19 primary and secondary symptoms (fever above 100, cough, aches, loss of taste/smell, stomach upset, etc.). Protocols should be followed when they present signs of illness. Parents must keep their student home and notify the office when a student presents signs of illness or if there has been COVID exposure.

Thank you for being consistent in partnering with us on our protocols during this time.

UPDATE... New Date for Europe Tour - Open for New Travelers!

The 13-Day Europe Tour (originally scheduled for March) has been rescheduled for departure on July 7, 2021. This tour with Education First (EF) includes travel through Italy, France and Spain. We are excited about the opportunity to offer this experience to our high school students. Due to the rescheduling of this tour for a later date, enrollment is back open for new travelers to join us!
