A Message from Principal Bame
We are wrapping up the summer months and quickly moving into fall! Part of our school mission focuses on raising our students to be strong community members and caring citizens. We cannot simply stand back and watch the devastation in Houston (and surrounding areas) without making a contribution to the rebuilding efforts. Along with our Student Council and PTA, our school has joined forces with Baylor University in Texas to support a school in need.
We have been paired with St. Thomas Moore School, a K-12 school in the Houston area that has lost 70% of their classrooms, including materials and resources. Many of the teachers and students in this community have lost everything. Please be on the lookout for information regarding our support efforts in the coming week. Thank you, in advance, for your willingness to give.
One of our previous students, Kyle Oregano, has been planning an Eagle Scout project that will benefit Laurel Park's front entrance landscape. We are excited to announce that Kyle and his team will be landscaping and planting shrubs and flowers in the beds located next to our main doors on October 14th, which happens to be our Fall Campus Beautification Day. We hope that your families will join in to help. Please save the date!
This year I will begin a new tradition - Coffee with the Principal. Please join me for the first Coffee Chat on November 16th at 8:45 AM in our Media Center. This "chat" will be casual in nature, mostly providing time for us to get to know each other better and to allow for parents to ask questions or discuss topics of interest in a relaxed atmosphere. There is no sign up, but afterward please stay for first PTA meeting offered during the school day!
Finally, please take notice of the red curbs we have painted in the no-parking zones of our parking lot. PLEASE do not park in these zones. We need to keep them clear in case of an emergency.
Thank you for all of your support!
