Patriot Day - September 11
Seventeen years ago tomorrow, our country was attacked by terrorists that turned planes into weapons. Nearly 3,000 Americans were killed on September 11, 2001, in New York City and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. As a result, thousands answered the call to defend our country and our country and our allies have been fighting every day since. Countless lives have been lost. Families have been forever changed. Our country has been forever changed.
This major event happened before you, our students, were born. But you are surrounded by adults that can share their 9-11 stories with you. Take time to ask adults for their stories. At school. At home. History is a collection of stories. Listen to some.
To remember 9-11, to honor victims and their families, and to support military, law enforcement and emergency personnel, let's wear red, white, and blue tomorrow. Never forget.

Dress Code Update, Update!
We had some confusion about our dress code update in last week's Scoop. Let's try this info again! Most students are doing a great job with dress code this year. The few violations we've had include shorts too short, jeans with upper-thigh holes, and tops with open backs that do not cover torso or undergarments. Let's clean up these issues!
There has been some confusion about leggings. This has been caused by a glitch in our updated dress code. The requirement to keep yourself covered from shoulders to extended fingertips is actually related to shorts and skirts. Tops with leggings do not need to reach to the length of fingertips. However, leggings tops DO need to extend to the heel of the hand. This means that a leggings top should fully cover the torso (the rumpus should be covered!)
Students with dress code violations are called to the office. The first violation results in a written warning. Subsequent violations result in detentions. When possible, violators will be asked to change clothes. When that is not possible, violators will wear their clothing the rest of the day.
Just because you see someone in violation, does not mean that the violation is OK!! Make your apparel decisions based on code, not on what you saw someone wearing yesterday! If you have any questions, check in with Miss Nass. Thank you!
Homeroom Tasks
We've got two important HR tasks this week!
Bus Info Updates will take place this week. We want to clean up Harmony by making sure our bus route info is accurate. Each HR teacher has a list of existing bus numbers. Thanks for making any necessary changes and getting the updated list to Mrs. Walsh this week.
