Mrs. Ewald’s and Ms. Keacher’s Reading and Language Arts
In reading and language arts, students will be examining the lives, accomplishments, and contributions of influential African Americans. They will then create a product of choice (scrapbook, poster, slideshow, or brochure) to share with the class.
Mrs. Fowler’s Reading and Language Arts
Students will read an excerpt from the best-selling novel “An Invisible Thread.” They will analyze the way the authors of “A Simple Act” and “An Invisible Thread” presented information about the same story of an unlikely friendship in different ways.
MATH
Course 2 students will be working on solving inequalities with all operations as we close out Chapter 6. They will then have an assessment on Equations and Inequalities when we return from the holiday weekend on February 19th.
Accelerated 7 students will begin their work with Equations and Inequalities next week. Our focus will be on Solving Equations with Rational Coefficients, Two-Step Equations, and Writing Equations.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In Social Studies, we will be finishing our research on the Founding Fathers by creating a mock Facebook page. We will be reviewing Chapter 8 and finishing the week by taking a summative (test) on Thursday and Friday.
SCIENCE
We will continue our study of genetics by learning the difference between phenotypes and genotypes (there may even be a fun little song in there to help students remember). We will also be making some math connections while examining how we can predict the traits of future generations (probability) using Punnett Squares.
