Last Day of School: May 20
Last day of school for students in grades K-11 to be May 20
The last day of school for the 2019-20 School Year will be Wednesday, May 20, 2020, for Waynesville R-VI students in grades K-11. The last day for graduating seniors in the Class of 2020 will be May 15.
Members of the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education voted to set the last day for students as May 20 during their board meeting on Monday, April 20.
“This means that students will be finished with their academic work for this school year in one month,” said Dr. Brian Henry, superintendent. “We are working to develop a process for families to return textbooks, materials and Chromebooks (and for parents to pick up their children’s supplies) and will send this information to parents when the plan is complete.”
The district had previously announced that the last day of school would be May 29; however, the state is allowing inclement weather hours to be waived for the 2019-20 School Year. Therefore, students will not be making up the snow days they missed earlier during the school year.
Teachers and paraprofessionals will continue to fulfill their contracted days by working through Friday, May 29, as originally scheduled. If the stay at home order has been lifted by that time, teachers and paraprofessionals will return to work in their buildings.
“Our staff will have ample time to return to their classrooms, put things in order and prepare for next year,” Henry said. “The process for this will depend upon state and federal direction on closures and will be communicated to staff in the near future.”
Packet Pick-Up
*Packets are completed and in the foyer. I have a box with my name on it. Packets have student names on them. Each student will pick-up two packets that will have their name listed at the top right, one with weeks 7 and 8 and the other with weeks 9 and 10. This set of packets will finish out the school year.
*Please look for my box and pick up both packets with your child's name on them.
*Packets can be picked up Tuesday through Thursday 8-3. Whoever is left over on Thursday, I will mail home.

New Participation Guidelines
Last week was a good week participation wise! Boom cards and sending pictures of the packet work seems to be the easiest for everyone so that is what we will stick with! New packets should be ready to pick up by the end of the week. I'll send out a message when they are out front of the school! Please let me know if you would rather have your packet mailed to you.
