Dayton Consolidated Weekly Update
March 25, 2021
Hello Dayton Consolidated Families!
We have had a great week talking about aspirations. Whether it is dreaming of a future job or a college they may wish to attend, it is never too early to start talking about goals!
A reminder that Governor Mills announced the Moving Maine Forward Plan on March 5th. These changes have been made in the Daily COVID Screening Assessment and Handbook(recent edits highlighted): DAYTON.
I wanted to share that the FCC recently adopted an Order that established the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, which is an initiative to help lower the cost of high-speed internet for eligible households during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Please check the FCC’s website, www.fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit, regularly for the latest information.
Will there be a remote week following April Vacation?
While educators are currently being vaccinated and average daily cases are down overall, there has been a recent increase among young people. Considering these factors, our schedule will be as follows:
Week of April 26-30
Grades PreK-5:
Remote Monday, April 26th and Tuesday, April 27th
Return in-person on Wednesday, April 28th
We ask parents to be vigilant about completing the screener during the remote days and report travel to the School Nurse. Please be aware a negative test result or quarantine is a requirement to return after most travel. For current travel guidelines and expectations, please click here.
An Opportunity for Families: Community Conversation around Managing Difficult Behaviors
The Biddeford and Dayton Community Outreach Team will share insight and strategies which families can utilize to support challenging behaviors at home. To access this information check out their Managing Difficult Behaviors Flyer, watch the video below, or join us for the Community Conversation on Wednesday, March 31st at 7:00pm (Zoom link to follow).
Daily Health Screener- A reminder each student must have a completed health screener each day (BEFORE) entering DCS. A link is texted and emailed to you each morning. You can also find the link posted below in the newsletter.
VACCINE INFORMATION
The Maine CDC now has a Vaccine Consult Line to answer any general vaccination questions. The phone number is 866-962-6062 and calls will be answered Monday through Friday between 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Please be aware this is not a vaccination appointment line, but they can respond to most vaccination-related questions. If preferred, the public may also use the following email: COVIDVaccine@maine.gov
In closing, I want to thank you all for your continued support this year. It truly has been remarkable and the staff feels it. While there certainly seems to be hope on the horizon, please continue following safety guidelines, especially wearing face coverings, staying home when not feeling well, and washing hands frequently. We are all in this together!
Stay well!
