Principal's Notes for the week of 4/8-4/12
Teachers,
We are approaching MAP/EOC testing please be sure to go over these expectations and be sure to follow them as well.
Please go over the following MAP/EOC expectations/talking for students today during the end of the 7th hour on April 18th:
1) Remind the students to bring their own personal headphones to school from April 23rd-May 8th to be used on the MAP/EOC. Otherwise, they will have to use one of the pairs that we have school for those who forget them or don't have them.
2) Remind the students of the importance of the MAP/EOC. Important because it is a reflection of them as an individual, the building as a whole, and the district as apart of the community. Also, remind high school students that the EOC makes up 10% of their 2nd-semester grade.
3) Remind the students that next year NBHS will be doing a MAP/EOC celebration for any student that scores proficient/advanced.
4) Please remind students to bring their own calculators as well to the math portions of the test. Students will not be able to use the calculators on their cell phones during testing. (Math teachers please talk to each other about moving calculators from classes if necessary.)
Teacher Expectations:
1) There should be "NO HOMEWORK" given during the MAP/EOC map testing weeks of April 23rd-May 8th. All work should be completed during class time.
2) Have your tickets cut and organized. If you are EOC testing have the session codes ready. Bring any other needed supplies Mrs. Reinkemeyer is not bringing.
3) Head-Phones and extra computers will be in MS lab during the weeks of testing.
4) Please remember to bring your MAP/EOC testing manuals to the testing site during your time of testing.
5) Please do not stream any videos or anything else during the weeks of testing!
6) You will be the proctor of the test this year, please be out of your seats monitoring the students during the entire portion of the test. Being at your seat could invalidate the test if DESE would show up.
7) When a student completes a tested area please keep them in the test room. Have them read a book or sit quietly until all have completed their test. They can not have their phones, class work, and electronic devices.
8) Mrs. Rienkemeyer is creating a sub-plan coverage schedule during testing, so sub plans ready. Also, remember that you can only get paid if you are actually subbing on your plan period during this time.
9) There may be days when testing starts earlier so sub coverage may not cover for a few moments, if you have a student who is not covered please have them stay in your room or go to the office.
9) Be sure that you have your seating charts prepared for testing.
10) FINALLY, DO NOT FORGET TO SIGN-OFF WITH SAM, LETTING HER KNOW IF YOUR TICKETS ARE CORRECT.
A reminder that we have a leadership meeting on April 16th. If you have anything that needs to be placed on the agenda, please let me know no later than Monday at noon.
In the coming weeks, there are several field trips (senior trip, science, etc) with that in mind as the sponsor you are responsible for making sure that no attends a field trip if they do not meet the expectations of the "Good Standing Policy". Please be sure to check this policy to make sure that you are following the expected guidelines for this policy.
As the year is winding down, please stay on top of your curriculum work. It is due the last day teachers are in session on May 22nd. It will be a part of the end of the year checkoff list If all the required elements are not in as requested a letter of notice will go into the teacher's file. Please do not allow this to happen. You have had plenty of time to complete the curriculum as expected.
Remember that there will be several students taking the NOCTI testing on April 16th and the ACT WorkKeys on April 17th. Mrs. Reinkemeyer sent out the NOCTI student list earlier today and I sent out the list for WorkKeys last week.
May 15th will be the seniors last day of school. It will be a half day! OPAA will be providing a senior breakfast starting before school. At 8:15 the seniors will be doing the graduation walk-through practice and then at 9:00 the seniors will go over to the elementary for the graduation march that we do each year.
On April 18th, the HS office staff will be providing lunch for the staff on this date. We are excited to provide this lunch for you for all the hard work you put in this year.
