Conscious Discipline
A Brain-Based and Practical Approach for Grades 6-12
Conscious Discipline is a longtime leader in integrating classroom management and social-emotional learning. It utilizes everyday events rather than an external curriculum, and addresses the adult's emotional intelligence as well as the student's. Conscious Discipline empowers adults to consciously respond to daily conflict, transforming it into an opportunity to teach critical life skills to students. With Conscious Discipline, your teachers, your students and your entire school culture will become a safe haven of cooperation, constructive problem solving and academic success.
Participants will be able to:
• Identify the components of the Brain Smart™ Start and explain how they relate to the Brain Smart® Principles
• Recognize the relationship of internal state to behavior for both adults and children.
• Access your STAR power and model the skill of Composure through Active Calming.
In addition, information will be shared about the Seven Skills of Discipline, The School Family, the Seven Powers for Conscious Adults, and the Brain State Model.
Conscious Discipline was named a national model for character education by the Florida State Legislature. With a transformative, brain-based, and practical approach, Jenny Spencer, a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor, will be sharing at the Southern Indiana Education Center to guide and inspire grades 6-12 instructors. Join us on November 17!
