Dear Parents / Carers,
We have had a fabulous week in school this week! Year 6 in particular have been very busy with 4 performances of their play 'Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies'. There were some true 'Oswald' winning performances! The singing and dancing were excellent with lots of laughs and jokes thrown in with great comic timing. Well done to all involved!
Year 6 then had a day in the woods to unwind and enjoy Forest School in the sunshine but I suspect that all the fresh air has left them ready for an early night tonight!
The whole school was then involved in 'moving up' day today. Sadly, our Year 6 children have been unable to visit their new high schools so far this year and our new intake of Reception pupils have been unable to meet their new classmates and teachers before they start in September, but for everyone else it has been a chance to meet new friends, staff and classrooms. This was a massive challenge this year as Test and Trace has taken its toll on our staff so we had 5 adults unable to attend. These staff will all be returning to school next week once their isolation time is up. Mrs Wolterman (Year 3 Sharks) and Mrs Walton (Year 1/2 Hummingbirds) will be visiting next week to meet the children they will be working with.
Finally, every child should have received their end of year report today. It has been a very different and sometimes difficult year but the children have coped admirably and myself, the local governing body and the MAT are pleased with how well they have continued to learn and the progress they have made.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Staff Thank You's
If anyone would like to say thank you to or has any positive comments for a member of staff then please complete and submit the form below.
Thank you one again to those who have been in touch regarding FOKF and our appeal for support and new members. It is intended that the Extraordinary General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 14th September to see if a new committee can be formed. It is likely that this will be online via Googlemeet (or similar) so hopefully opens it up for people to be able to attend who might not have been able to attend in person of an evening.
It would be great if there are sufficient interested people to allow a new committee to be formed, with fresh ideas and enthusiasm and for Friends to continue in the 2021/22 school year. If you are unable to attend the EGM meeting but wish to put your name forward please email friends@kf.starmat.uk or contact via the Facebook page.
As some of you will be aware, Friends transformed the EYFS playground areas a couple of years ago and these areas would now benefit from a refresh, ready for the new reception intake in September. It was great fun and very rewarding, so if anyone out there would like to discuss assisting refreshing the areas over the coming summer break then please contact us via email or Facebook

Thrive Activities
It’s nearly the Summer holidays, and to get you excited we wanted to help start you and your pupils’ creative skills flowing.
NYES Catering is excited to announce our 2021 Bake Off Competition! What masterpiece will your pupils create?
Brief
We want pupils to set their creative minds free, and design and make a sweet or savoury item to rival the official Great British Bake Off entries – pupils can be as adventurous with this task as they like, but they must contain either a fruit or vegetable. We also would love to hear why they’ve chosen their item, and the fun they had creating it!
We’ve enlisted the help of fantastic local baker and business owner Victoria Quilter of Tor Bakes Cakes to judge along with our two in-house judges. Victoria (Tor) started baking when she was a young girl, which quickly developed into a passion for baking; ultimately leading her to opening her own baking business, Tor Bakes Cakes, a couple of years ago. Tor can’t wait to see all of the creative and tasty looking entries!
The 2021 NYES Catering Star Baker will win a personalised baking set and a baking session (for the winner and two friends) with the NYES Catering Team over the Summer holidays.
We will also share a couple of our favourite baking recipes to help aid with the creative mind flow!
How to enter

Please limit the entries to 1 entry per pupil/child.
