History
The camera has innovated through history and had a major impact on society today. The first somewhat successful images were created by 1816 by Nicephore Niepce. using a very small camera of his own making and a piece of paper coated with silver chloride which got dark when it was exposed to light. But since then the camera has evolved to be more effective. They then used dry plates, then film after that. Then the camera became more compact and soon it became portable and able to make photos almost instantly. The digital camera is what is mostly used now. It digitally records images and keeps them saved in a magnetic memory. The first commercially available digital camera in the United States was the 1990 Dycam. It was a commercial failure because it was black and white, low in resolution, and cost nearly $1,000.
Economic Impact
Photography is considered an art form and depending on what is captured can determine on how much money the image can sell for. An example is if someone captured an image of a famous celebrity in the public certain magazines might want to purchase the photo from you so that they can use it. Photography can be a full time career for some people. Jobs like staged photography for family photos. Jobs like camera man on a filming set. Unfortunately the cost for a quality camera can go up to the thousands. This makes it difficult for someone to get quality images. If the quality is low the desire for the image is compromised which means less money made.
Environmental Impact
Photographic images make it much easier to conduct environmental research. It helps keep records of changes in the environment. The only negative effect of the camera would go into the production of it. With factories using petrochemicals in their manufacture. But even that is minuscule compared to the overall illegal dumping of of the processing waste from the processing of camera film. But most use digital cameras now which has 0% film waste.
Cultural Impact
Almost every cellular device now has a camera implanted on it. With the massive social media networks, photography is a large part of many peoples lives. But it can also be a bad thing. If a certain photograph is put on a social media network then it can ruin someones reputation. It could possibly
Social Impact
Cameras are easy and creative tools that help people to express ideas and feelings. They help to document a person's feelings and life, and share to them with others. There are many online and offline communities for people to share their photos. Less privacy is a negative effect of the camera though. Things like leakage of classified information, increase in blackmailing and extorting individuals.
Political Impacts
The use of cameras for photographic images as evidence in court can help determine a defendants innocence. But it can also be bad because of the possibility of photo shopped images can be used as illegitimate evidence.
