"Look! It's a maple tree!"

Two kindergarteners found a maple tree in Fort Greene Park. All of our classes have been spending a lot of time outdoors as part of their Integrated Units of Study. Kindergarten is studying gardens and first grade is studying the community.

THANK YOU!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our Compass Families have already treated us to chair massages and a delicious lunch from R&D Foods. We are so thankful for all of the treats we have received and those still to come this week. Thank you for helping us to build this inspiring community and for supporting us every step of the way. We appreciate you!

Scholastic Book Club

Thank you ordering books this month! We will receive several free books because so many families ordered books. The order was placed on 4/30 and books should arrive later this week.

Compass Farm Stand Begins on Wednesday, 5/6!

Our students will open their Compass Farm Stand on Wednesday, May 6th. The children will be selling fresh produce outside our entrance on Carlton from 11am-2pm.

Here's how you can buy your fresh fruits and veggies from the kids:

  • If you or your child-care provider pick your child up on Wednesdays, please stop by a little early or stay a few minutes late to buy a few pieces of produce.
  • If your child goes to afterschool or home on the bus, you are welcome to send money with your child to use to purchase fruits or veggies at the farm stand.
  • If you are a friend of Compass or an incoming Compass family, feel free to stop by anytime between 11am and 2pm.

A list of what we will be selling this week is available on our Farm Stand flyer.

PLEASE SHARE THE FLYER WITH YOUR FRIENDS! ALL ARE WELCOME!

The Compass Farm Stand is possible through a grant from Urban Harvest (part of Slow Food NYC).

Laundry Coop Help Needed for May and June

We have drastically reduced our consumption of paper towels in the past few months! Kids (and adults too) are now reaching for reusable towels and rags to clean tables for snack and lunch and to clean up any water spills throughout the day.

Thanks to all of the families who signed up to take a laundry shift or two so far. April is now covered thanks to your help! We still have spots available for May and June. Please sign up if you are able to help. Thanks so much!
