Welcome Back - Take 2!

Principal's Message
We did it! We actually made it through our first full week of the school year. I am impressed with how our staff and students jumped right back in and hit the ground running.
I want to thank you for your understanding in our cancellation of Back-to School Night. Even though we are not holding this event, teachers will be sharing information with you about their classroom routines and procedures. They are also open to meeting with you to directly answer your questions.
Looking ahead to next week, we will be taking school pictures on Tuesday, September 21st. Our photographers will also be here on campus on Thursday, September 23rd to take pictures of any students who were absent earlier in the week. Of course, we will also schedule a retake day in the near future. This week we sent home picture packet order forms. In the event that this paper did not make it home, I have also included this form with this newsletter. You may print this form at home and send it back with your payment by picture day. Please reach out to our school office or email me if you have any questions about school pictures.
In closing, I want to appreciate you all for your continued support. The past month was truly challenging. I am optimistic that the remainder of the school year will run smoothly.
Respectfully,
Kim Little
Emergency Drills We work hard to prepare our students for any emergency that may arise. Next week we will be holding our monthly fire drill and a lockdown drill. Please know that our teachers tell the students in advance about these drills to prepare them for these alarms. These drills will not come as a surprise to the kids and we will reassure them these events are only for practice. | Wednesdays are Early Release Days A reminder that each Wednesday is a minimum day. Students are dismissed at 1:00 pm on these days. Our staff uses this time for collaboration, planning and professional development. | Support PTC An easy way to support our Parent Teacher Club is through shopping at Amazon. If you register through this link https://smile.amazon.com/ch/68-0485879 our PTC receives a donation from Amazon equating to .05% of your purchase. These small donations are making a big difference in helping our PTC support school activities. |

Mark Your Calendar for our First PTC Meeting of the Year!
Over the years this group has hosted many fun and engaging events for our students and families including: Fall Festival, Santa Story Night, Christmas Shopping Store, Family Dances, Yearend Luaus and game nights. The PTC has funded the creation of our school wide murals, assorted classroom activities, assemblies, and many enrichment opportunities.
At this first meeting we will be electing new board members. Please consider attending this meeting to learn more about the Pinewood PTC and how you can help support our Pinewood Falcons.
Free and Reduced Lunch Verification Survey
Dear Pollock Pines Families,
I am writing to ask for your help to ensure that Pinewood Elementary and Sierra Ridge Middle School receives extra funding from the State to support academic and extracurricular programs. By completing a quick survey, your student(s) may be eligible for free or reduced breakfast and/or lunch, and PPESD bus passes, and more.
Even if your student(s) may not take advantage of these services, completing this form will allow Pollock Pines Schools to qualify for grants, receive free transportation for field trips, and help qualify for more funding for extracurricular enrichment programs. We ask you to take 2 minutes to complete the survey.
We appreciate your assistance in helping our school qualify for additional funding resources.
We need all families to complete this confidential survey below by Friday, October 1, 2021.
Pat Atkins
PPESD Superintendent
Please take the time to complete by 10/1/21
