Aspen High School
January 2020 Newsletter
From Principal Tharyn Mulberry
Dear Aspen High School Parents and Students,
I would like to begin this letter by thanking you for a wonderful first semester. Let me start by sharing the changes in staffing that will occur second semester in the Art department. Diane Heath will be on an extended leave due to health reasons and all of the AHS community would like to wish her a speedy recovery! It is our hope to have a substitute teacher hired for this position as soon as possible, and we will take great care to ensure that students impacted by this vacancy will have a smooth transition when we begin the second semester.
I also want to remind all of you that both my assistant principal Mrs. Strassburger and I maintain an “Open Door” policy and we invite both students or parents to drop by and share your thoughts regarding this year’s progress at AHS. Please join me at my principal’s breakfast on January 29th at 8:30 am in the BOE room. I look forward to seeing you!
Please feel free to contact me at any time at 970-925-3760.

Introducing Skier TV!!
New this school year is Skier TV, our student-run broadcast of the AHS weekly announcements. Journalism students who were interested in trying out broadcasting are working with our new Tech Integrationist, Kim Zimmer (kzimmer@aspenk12.net) as writers, editors and anchors to produce a weekly show that airs at AHS on Wednesday during ExEd meeting time. Episodes are posted on Wednesday by noon on our SkierTV SchoolTube channel: https://tinyurl.com/skierTV2020. We encourage the parent community to watch and appreciate your support as we explore new ways of conveying information to the student body.

NHS and BETA service club Update
Today is the beginning of the holiday weekend marking the 91st birthday of Dr. Martin Luthur King, Jr. As we all take advantage of the long weekend, our NHS officers would like to spread the word that this day is commonly observed as "a day on, not a day off". MLK Day of Service is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King's vision of a “Beloved Community". As a reminder, service opportunities for students may be found at www.tinyurl.com/aspenservice. In the upper left corner of this site, students will find the link to submit their hours.
Student Recognition
