The Hannaford Career Center is in the process of completing a career center assessment required by the Vermont Agency of Education and the federal government. Part of this assessment requires us to survey students, parents, faculty/staff, community members, and employers. The feedback is reported to the state, but also allows us to determine what we are doing well and where we need to improve.

Please access the community member survey here. The survey will be open until Friday,

April 1.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey and share your thoughts about the career center.

Class of 2024 start your summer off attending a Leadership Conference!

The Vergennes Rotary will sponsor two members from the class of 2024 to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference (RYLA) at NVU on June 24-26, 2022. Information will be distributed to all sophomores through morning meetings. Any student interested in attending needs to submit their application by Tuesday March 22 at 3 pm. Students must be available on those days in June and have transportation; they are not allowed to drive themselves. This unique opportunity brings young people from VT, NH, and Quebec together to share, evolve and learn to be more effective and self-confident leaders in their schools, teams, communities, and other facets of everyday life. The most recent participant was Parker Kayhart and it was a virtual conference. This year is in person but must follow the college’s covid requirements.

What is RYLA?

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an international program that was created by Rotary International to encourage strong leadership in youth. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid camp to develop and enhance leadership skills through activities conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect.

RYLA strives to teach what it takes to be an effective leader.

Every RYLA includes the following topics:

Fundamentals of leadership
Ethics of positive leadership
Importance of communication skills in effective leadership
Conflict management and problem solving
Building self-esteem and self-confidence
Elements of community and global citizenship
Rotary's purpose of service to the community and world

Reminder- Be Tech Safe

Be aware that a new text scam appears to be targeting individuals in our area. Text messages are being sent from random numbers with personalized messages that make it seem like a friend. If a person responds to these texts (even with "who is this?") then the target can potentially be tracked through their cell phone if their location settings are on, causing risks for the individual's safety.

Remind your children to ignore and block messages from unknown senders.
