Teacher Appreciation Week
We would like to give a HUGE thank you to all of the WBSD teachers who are REAL HEROS! We can't agree more with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt, she said ”next to parents they (teachers) are the most important people in our communities.” Check out your school newsletter or the WBSD Facebook page for photos of the celebrations across the District.

Congrats to WBHS Junior RJ Card
Richard (RJ) Card, is the current Diversity Chair of EARTH Club and newly elected president for the 2023-2024 school year! RJ will be speaking at the Michigan Climate Action Summit on Friday, June 2, at Oakland University. The EARTH Club, Literary Garden Club, and Honors American Literature classes will also be attending the summit.

Congratulations Blaine!
WBSD Board of Education approved the recommendation of Blaine McDowell to serve as the next principal of Sheiko Elementary School.
Blaine has been a member of the WBSD community for many years, having taught at Sheiko Elementary School and most recently serving as the Dean of Students at West Bloomfield Middle School. Blaine is an outstanding educator who is dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. Her passion for education, strong communication skills, and collaborative approach will be invaluable as she leads our Sheiko school community.

DECA
West Bloomfield Middle School named ‘Model School’
The school was recognized due to its focus on relationships and rigorous and relevant academics that impact students, according to a press release from the West Bloomfield School District.
West Bloomfield Middle School is one of 30 Model Schools from across the United States that will share best practices at ICLE’s 31st annual Model Schools Conference, which is scheduled for June 25-28 at Orlando World Center in Florida. Read the full C&G article here.
Youth Recognition Awards
WBMS hosted the West Bloomfield Youth Assistance, Youth Recognition Awards Ceremony. Families celebrated their acts of kindness, concern for others' well-being, and self-growth. Congratulations to the 40 students that were recognized. Keep it up! Thank you for making a difference in our schools and in the community!

Partnership in Action!
Thank you to Henry Ford West Bloomfield for hosting the Stop the Bleed workshop with our WBHS students. We appreciate the real world training and instruction.
Sheiko Sharks - Future Doctors
The Oakland Schools Career Readiness team visited Mrs. VanNostrand's 5th graders at Sheiko Elementary. They learned about pulmonologists as part of the Health Science sector of careers. Students created lungs and earned a stethoscope pin once they created functioning lungs. WAY to go Sharks!
WBHS Annual Choral Spring Concert
Seniors from the WBHS Choral Department picked the theme Pop2K to perform at the annual Spring Concert. Each class chose and prepared songs and dances from 2000-2023. The concert included solos and small ensembles as well. The concert closed with a tribute to the choir seniors of 2023.
WBMS field trip to NYC
Unforgettable views from on top of Rockefeller Center, behind the scenes at Wicked, up close and personal workshop with the cast of Hamilton, another workshop with the cast of MJ the Musical, and many, many, steps on the streets of NYC.

Noah Arbit honored West Bloomfield Lakers Figure Skating team with a State of Michigan Tribute Emma Waibel accepted the award for the team. Congratulations on winning the MIFS (Michigan High School Figure Skating) State Championship! More information here.
