Weekly Update
It was another great week at Foothills! This week students in all grade levels worked through reading text closely and use text evidence to ask and answer questions. Students are also working on writing stories using the plot mountain structure. In math students are working on unit 2 and really getting into new content. Our Zones of Regulation lessons this week focused on recognizing how our bodies react when we are feeling different emotions. This can mean when we are nervous we have a stomach ache or when we are sad our bodies can hurt. Understanding the physical feelings we have with our emotions can help us learn to regulate when we have big emotions. Be sure to ask your child about zones and what they are learning!
Attendance
An unexcused absence is when a student is absent from school, and the parent or guardian has not called to inform the school of the reason for the absence. An excused absence is when a student is absent from school, and you communicate with the office.
You can call and leave a message with a reason for the absence 24 hours a day at (360) 829-3355 or email at mclay@whiteriver.wednet.edu
Health Room News
- October 20th will be our hearing and vision screening. We will screen all students, except 4th grade. If you do NOT want your student screened, please notify health room or office before Oct 18th.
- November 2nd is our Dental Day. Watch for permission slips to come home with your student. If you want your student to participate, the form will need to be returned by Oct 26th.
- As a reminder, ALL medications at school require an authorization from your doctor - even over the counter medications. If you have any questions please contact Nurse Cris at 360-829-5978 or centrop@whiteriver.wednet.edu
Change of Dismissal Plan
- If you need to change the end of day dismissal plan for your child please call the office by 2:30 to ensure that we have adequate time to get the information to your child's teacher. You can call the office at (360) 829-3355.
- Please be sure to let the office know if you will be parking to pick up your student or if you will be going through car pick up. The locations are different and we want to make sure we have your child in the correct location. Thank you for your help with this!
Helpful
Our character trait of the month for October is Helpful.
Being helpful means you notice something that needs to be done, and you do it without being asked, such as putting your neighbor's pencil away for them.
Being helpful also looks like offering to help someone if they need it. If someone seems to be struggling, you make an effort to help.
Being helpful can look like putting away supplies or reminding someone to walk quietly in the hall with a silent signal.
